Web UI died.

Hi!

Yesterday I was unable to access the web UI on my RT-AC87U. All that came up was a white page. The router was working fine other than that, and I could access it through SSR to enter the reboot command. After the reboot, I could access the web UI again. Is this a general problem with Asus routers or could it be the Merlin firmware? I'm running 380.57 and have had the router for a little over 2 weeks, and this is the first time anything like this has happened.

What FW version? Its a known issue httpd crash, but it shouldnt happen now on latest code.

Was httpd process still running, even crashed/not responding?

Or it wasnt there anymore? (under ps command)

ps | grep httpd

They are fine. :)

49c 2.4GHz (not 498c ah? kk)
64c 5GHz
73c CPU

LOL no I use it as a waffle iron ;)

I meant 48c. But yeah.. Glad they are fine. I haven't been able to find anything about Tmax for any of the SoC's but if they are fine then that's not the issue.

CPU TJMAX is 125Cº, i have posted the datasheet on this forum not sure where now, but its lost in some place here. :)

You may also try a different browser to see if that might work.

Did a hard reboot (pull the power plug) of the router fix it?

Did the older 378.56_2 firmware also exhibit this issue for you?

Have you tried john9527's or hggomes firmware as a test?

Like I said in the OP I was able to connect with SSH and just type reboot and then the Web UI was back to normal. So it's not like it's a serious thing as of now but if it starts happening again and again it might be. But hopefully it was just a hickup.

If it happens again, try

service restart_httpd

instead of a reboot.

If you see it's happening several times (crashing httpd) try to open a terminal with strace -p PID(httpd), you will know why its happening.

PS: I'm not sure if RMerlin or ASUS Stock FW has strace on it, probably not.
