I am on chan 3 and 44 (yes im using the full spectrum of both 2.4@40 and 5 80) if i dont i dont even get my max dl speed from my ISP which is 25mbps (sucks i know and its cable :( )

I have random drop outs and think its due to amount of networks in my complex

This is my current site survery

You are only asking for trouble by using 40mhz on the 2.4ghz band.

Surprisingly, if I just use the 20mhz the speed drops drastically to like 1mbps. All my wifi cameras run on the 2.4ghz set at the 40mhz setting and run super fast and range isn't bad either. I just updated it to merlins 40 alpha 4 can't wait to get home and check the speeds out now. My cameras already respond much faster remotely almost as if I were at home.

Where do you live, in a porn studio?

I have 19APs in my neighborhood that my laptop picks up and no issues on 2.4ghz band. Running latest firmware, and no issues with Kong firmware.

OP.

I'll post screen shot of.my settings tomorrow that you can try.

Ha! I have around 30+ 2.4ghz networks within range of me. Gotta love large apartment complexes. I used to get "free" wifi from those neighbors that never secured their router, but now, all new routers come per-secure with basic security enabled, unlike the old days.

I only use 5ghz ch 149(control channel). I am the only 5ghz network in range :D

I too want to stress what KGB7 suggested; better to share 1, or 6 than overlap both of them at 3. 2.4 GHZ is really only three channels, they overlap such that only 1, 6, and 11 are actually all usable at the same time. I am not sure why 5 MHz channel spacing was thought sufficient for 20 MHz minimum spectral width.

Thank you all for your input! Much appreciated! I just dont understand why my dowlink speed decreased almost in half when i use chan 1,6,or 11. I have even changed the 40mhz to 20 and still can't get to the full dl speed sometimes.

maybe i should adjust this? but what value?

RTS Threshold current value is 2347

Here are the settings i use.

At 20mhz i get 9.5MB/s
At 40mhz i get 14MB/s

Thats with Intel Centrino 2230N card.

Your issue could also be related to your wifi card. start checking for latest drivers and driver settings.

p.s.

Make sure you manually power cycle the router after saving settings. For some reason this router has issues properly implementing settings in order for them to take full effect.
