What IP addresses should I use to prevent openvpn issues?

I use the N66U openvpn server a lot. I use a 192.168.x.x set of addresses for my network. I have run into issues with openvpn at hotels due to IP address conflicts between networks.

I know I could change the IP to 192.168.somethingelse.x and that would work most of the time... but is there a better way? Should I consider a 10.x.x.x or a 172.x.x.x set of addresses, and if so, what are the possible pitfalls for the router? I am not sure the router can handle anything other than 192.168.x.x. without issues.

I am especially interested in hearing from user who have tried something other than 192.168.x.x. Also, does anyone know if there is a difference between rmerlin's firmware and john's fork in this aspect?

10.x should be fine.

Also i doubt you using the entire 192.168.x range.

e.g. 192.168.200.x would also be fine.
