What is stored in JFFS?

I know the logs are stored in JFFS as are custom scripts, but is there anything “important” in them that needs to be restored if you are restoring configuration?

Basically what I’m wondering is if I need to downgrade firmware, do I really need to restore JFFS or will everything needed be recreated from the config restore?

I believe OpenVPN certs, keys, etc., are as well (used to be nvram, but that became problematic due to their size).

It depends on the router model Some models also store a lot of settings there, like DHCP reservations.
