Hello everybody,
just joined this forum since I got myself Asus router...so please do not be harsh, I my guestion was already answered.

After reading on the forums, previous versions of Asus FW, version .27x had better wireless range than the newer ones. Which Rmerlins FW has implemented this wireless driver for best range...if it was not opted out in the newer FWs because maybe it was bad?

Thank you very much and regards, TomazO.

Hi,

This one is the range master! ;)

BUT: Do not forget the enhance the range of your clients also (more power, better antenna)! Otherwise nothing might come back to the powerful router...

With kind regards
Joe

As others have noted, John's fork firmware has excellent range. But as was also mentioned, remember that for the TRANSMITTING range to be useful, there must be an improvement in the RECEIVING range as well. That is best accomplished with better antennas. The "reciprocity principle" tells us that antennas affect transmission and reception by the same amount.

Thank you very much all.
Another thing; currently I'm using latest stock FW from ASUS. Should I expect and problems when flashing with the custom FW above? I'm aware of the factory reset to defaults after FW change, but is there sth else I should be worried?
And going back to stock FW it should be probably the same procedure as going custom FW way if there won't be any improvement or I would like to go back to stock?

Does "Ai Radar" feature also works in that custom FW?

Thank you very much again, TomazO!!

You might want to read the first 15 or so messages in this linked thread. Most are short and it won't take much time, but it will show you the direction John is headed.
