New Around Here
Hi everyone

My parent house is quite big house and always struggling with internet speed and range. Now I already bought Netgear R8000 a week ago. However after reading comments, YouTube clips etc regarding D-Link dir 890 L I became really confuse. My main concern is the range and then speed. Please help to chose between these two products since there aren't enough information when it comes to comparison.

ps. I have Netgear R7500 as well (means I have Netgear R7500 and R8000 at the moment) now need to know which one to keep? or shall I refund these and buy D-Link dir 890 L?

Thank you so much in advance for your time.

Really appreciated

Alex

Well.. they're all top end AC1900+ devices, so that's said...

With the two devices you have, really depends on what version of the R7500, as there are two... don't know why Netgear did this, but one isn't that bad (the QC-Atheros MU-MIMO version) and one perhaps is a trail of unicorn tears and tattered rainbows (the Quantenna version)...

The R8000... of the two devices you have, it's probably the better choice - it's an AC3200 class router, but at the end of the day, it's not going to beat physics... coverage is what coverage is...

I cannot really recommend the D-Link 890 device - there's been a few security issues with their past firmware on older devices, but who knows, perhaps they have solved those problems...

Thank you, I just double checked and the R7500 is not QC-Atheros MU-MIMO version. As I said the range is very important. At the moment I am far away from parents house so I cant really test the range. I just need to rely on what i receive here and make a right decision. I saw clips in YouTube about advantage of D Link 890 one and makes me hesitate.

Thank you for your time. Hope i can find my answer here.

TPlink AC1900 is what I run in my barbershop. It reaches my wifes office 2 buildings down for her Pandora. Pretty simple setup. Got it last week from Amazon.

None of the above. But if you have to choose, go with the Netgear. Although I've never had a D-Link at home, I've read enough horror stories to stay away from them. ASUS and TP-Link are still my recommendations.

Thank you, I already have Netgear R8000 and R7500, However i was thinking to refund these two and buy D-Link 890?!

Seems like you're pretty sold on the D-Link 890 - you asked for some recommendations from the hive mind...

Feel free to leave some feedback on your new purchase and experience with the 890
