I am very unhappy with your decision, and the lack of transparency in doing so.

If you took an official action, you should have atleast informed the user community or told your position.

I promise I will do my best to get around this.

This affects the ordinary customer, and if you do this to us, we will show you what we can acheive as a team.

This is not condoning illegal action, but atleast you should have thought about the users who are using it.It was a win win , when we are happy people would have bought more of your devices.

If you felt this was not licensed, then ensure you clear it up on the forums or your website as to why you took the action.

Silence is not being transparent.

I have the financial ability to flood the market with TM AC1900, and trust me I have methods around your stupid blocks.

I am thinking of reselling them for 1/3rd of the current AC1900 price, maybe $15? lets see Asus, and that too with the AIMESH working version what can you do? block us?

I will not advertise them publicly, i will make you guys regret the decision you took to block us.

Haha

Why blame asus on a product that initially does not support AI mesh.It is a T model that has probably been converted to AC68 by modifying the CFE .
I do not see anywhere that the TM-AC1900 support AImesh

https://www.asus.com/AiMesh/ (bottom of the page)

meh - the TM devices were sold for a very specific purpose, and that was met.

err what?
TM-AC1900 is supposed to be supported by T-mobile due to their closed and custom firmware.
T-mobile suck @ keeping it up to date.
People found a way to hack it and pretty sure they all have disclaimer that it's not officially supported.
then T-mobile flush TM-AC1900 the market to get money back.

TM-AC1900 was never listed as ai-mesh supported device, and now you saying it's not transparent enough?
If you were buying for the ai-mesh, I think you fail to do your research.
If you did not buy it for ai-mesh, well, it's not meant for your device either?

and if you have ability to get around the block and resell them, maybe it's why the reason Asus tighten up the release the first place

They have never said that this model would support AiMesh - you assumed it would.

I meant a TM AC1900 converted to AC68U, what I mean is they stripped out the AIMESH from the converted AC68U units, whilst the AC68U that are not converted retain this feature. This means they are on purpose stripping the AIMESH feature as of the firmware after 20308, why? Why did they start on purpose removing the AIMESH feature specificaly from a TM AC1900 converted to AC68U.

Is this not clear yet to all of you guys?

I am not saying resell for profit, I want them to know that we ordinary customers who converted this AC1900 to AC68U , and were able to get the benefit to be targeted ? Was it our fault? I am not talking about people who are abusing it or anything by converting them from tM AC1900 and resell them falsely as AC68U that is NOT what I AM condoning.

If you read again, I am talking about WHY they removed the AIMESH targeting AC1900 TM units converted to AC68 U starting after firmware V 20308, makes sense?

Thank you and good night.

Guys when i say resell, i mean at below even TM ac1900 rate, so that is the least I can do, i am not abusing this.I am not talking about selling them at $120 or $90.

They never officially announced they support it on TM AC1900, that I get it.However, Transparency is about saying that Hey you customers who purchased TM AC1900 and hacked into a AC68U, this feature will no longer be available due to whatever the heck licensing agreement we have with T-Mobile.I guess its a first world problem / expectation but where I am from this is what I expect, sorry if you guys think I am talking BS .Its the thing that they SLYLY did it is what causes me pain.

But the fact that hardware wise its same, and when the method to convert it to AC68U allow all the same firmware to run, if they block it specifically on ASUS routers branded as TM models means they are only doing this for TM branded routers even those running Asus stock.

Its not a question about incompatibility, or what ever you guys think its about.ITs about we the ordinary end user (not resellers) who were happy about.

They have never said that this model would support AiMesh - you assumed it would.

Thank you Eric, I highly respect your efforts into the open source community my hats off to you.

To the point, yes they never said they would - neither did they say its desupported or unlicensed if you see all the 100+ pages from Wilson Deng, Arthur Lien again maybe its just first world expection.Sorry if this came out as if I was rude.

Also maybe I am wrong did any of the threads they said its not allowed ? i mean it was really a grey area - but to leave it like that without saying leaves more question marks than it answers why,

we dont have a problem with a corporate decision, all we want to know is why they decided to suddenly remove it? is that too much to ask? maybe..

When Asus start promotion AIMesh then told ....do not trash old models, use it ! Now say....buy our new combo pack, and trash old.

TM-AC1900 is a RT-AC68u family, and T- MOBILE logo can't change this.

I am a fan of asus products, but such not clear decisions will definitely not give him fans.

btw. For clarity, im not have TM-AC1900.

IMO best solution for all is:
Asus make official initial FW for TM that allows use AIMesh and fw for 68u (as we know fw for all AC1900 family is same).
This should stops this strange situation.

Out of curiosity, will a "malicious" code be acceptable if ASUS intentionally creates for TM-AC1900-converted RT-AC68U next time?

Let me understand. You are upset that something that requires hacking factory firmware to work, no longer works?

And you were not notified in advance by the company whose product you hacked?

And now you are "threatening" the company by promising to "flood the market" with a discontinued product?

Go read the warranty. That's about as "transparent" as it gets.

I'm closing this thread.
