Hey everyone. There has been an unpleasant situation, I dropped my router from approximately 3-4 feet height. It seems to work fine, but I wanted to ask if someone knows how does the Asus router motherboard work and if there can be any damage that I don't notice, especially I'm interested if dropping the router can somehow break some component and somehow weaken the router security (as I'm a little paranoid :) ). Thx everyone for your response in advance.

Relax... if it runs like normal, it is fine to use.

When you drop your phone do the applications get loose and fall on the ground?

The thing is that I know how the phone works inside, but don't know nothing about wifi router. That's why I'm asking here :) No need to be rude

Your router is an embedded computer running stripped down Linux. Your question doesn't sound serious.

If you damage the motherboard then it will typically cause hardware issues with either the unit not running, not powering on, or powering on and failing to boot, or presenting other issues like running hot, ports not working, LED's not working, antennas loose or broken off, etc.. "Security" (like the router firewall or WiFi security) generally won't be affected as that is typically handled by the firmware of the router that gets loaded by the hardware of the router. If portions of the hardware are damaged then it may be reflected in the router GUI system log when the firmware encounters a problem with that hardware.

Hahah, I try, but still want to know if there is any possible chance of weakening security

How do you normally confirm that your router is secure upon commissioning your new network or upgrading firmware?... do that and then you can trust it again.

Normally physical damage is obvious....it stops working. If it works as usual, thank the router gods and move on.
