WiFi graph from phone app.

I am using a phone app called "Network Analyzer Lite" to check WiFi signal strength around my home. The graphs for wifi performance show decent "average" speeds ...but I see wide swings in the second to second graphs the app provides. Is this normal - anyone use this app before? One second might show 8 mbps - the next second up to 60 mbps.
