Hi guys,

so I have tried 2 x RT-N66Us and 1xRT-AC66U in AP mode to act as a wifi access point... The 5ghz becomes very unstable quickly, and then both 2.4 and 5 ghz become inaccessible. I can still see the SSIDs, but they are unreachable. I get speedtest pings of 1100ms and download speeds of 4kpbs if I can connect.

using the built in wifi in the ISP router/modem combo i get my normal 10ms pings and 3000KBps.

It worked fine until there was a firmware upgrade on my ISP modem, and it seems like that did it...but I can't see how?! my old buffalo router with 2.4GHz N and DD-wrt works flawless with it (running it now since the Asus routers are now paperweights).

Any thoughts on what could be going on?

THE PROBLEM WAS MULTICAST - I HAD IT DISABLED!!

what is the right setting? on 5ghz n - it only goes 1 to 54mbps - shouldn't i have a higher setting?

Were you ever able to resolve this? I have the same thing happening when I try to use the router in AP mode. It will work for a few minutes then becomes inaccessible. I can still see the SSID's, but cannot connect.

Uhhhh...Read the post above yours... I had to enable multicast on the wifi settings, since I have IPTV (eg Verizon's FIOs, Telus's Optik). Any IPTV multicast seemed to grind the router to a halt.

I'd suggest setting multicast to 54MBps and then playing around with the rate, and that solved my problem.

Hope that helps.
