wireguard on TUF-AX5400?

Hello, I have a TUF-AX5400 router mainly to connect to private vpn servers on openvpn protocol, and it is working ok, but the speed on openvpn is less than half (< 50 Mb/s) of my current speed; and my vpn provider just released wireguard router files. I know WG is much faster than OVPN, so I would like to try them on my router, but in the VPN Fusion there are only options for PPTP, L2TP or OVPN in the official asuswrt firmware (3.0.0.4.368_46061)

I tried the Merlin Gnuton latest version but could not find the wireguard option either.

What would you recommend to setup on that router?

No Asus firmware supports Wireguard out of the box except for beta versions that are available for only a few select models.

Just to let you know I installed the RC3-2 for the TUF-AX5400 and it has wireguard support, both server and client, but I don't know if it is correctly implemented because even it showed connected to my vpn wireguard server, I had no connection to the internet.

As soon as i disabled the wireguard client connection and enabled the openvpn ones, my network went up.

My VPN provider (protonvpn) tried several strategies, but none of them worked.
