Wireless printing speed

Here is my experience with wireless printing :
I own two Epson wireless printer, same behavior for both.

If I print small document, no problem.

If I print photo (meaning large file), the problem begin:
-With ASUS RT-AC68U, 4561 Asus firmware, it start printing normally then it slowdown then I get a communication error from the printer and the retour reboot by itself.

-With ASUS RT-AC68U, Asuswrt-merlin 374.40 alpha4 firmware, it start printing normaly then it slowdown and continue to print very slowly until the end.

-With ASUS RT-AC68U, 4881 Asus firmware, it start printing normally then it slowdown and continue to print very, very, very slowly until the end (it took half an hour to print a 4x6 photo).

-With ASUS RT-AC68U, 4881 Asus firmware and Universal beamforming disabled, It start printing normally then it slowdown and continue to print very slowly until the end.

-With ASUS RT-AC68U, 5047 Asus firmware, beamforming enabled, It start printing normally then it slowdown and continue to print slowly until the end (it is the least slowly for wireless printing).

-If I print using my old Linksys WRT 160N V3 router, everything is OK and Wireless printing is the same speed as hardwire printing.

-If I print using my linksys EA6500 router, speed is the same as ASUS RT-AC68U, Asuswrt-merlin 374.40 alpha4 firmware.

Next, I will try the Asuswrt-Merlin 41_alpha4

Any idea of what is causing the slow printing speed?

I hope this will help developpers

It seems you're the only one to have seen this behaviour with a printer.
Have you resolved it?

Hi,
Weird, my printer is an old Canon Pixma MP990 running on wireless. With
any router I had/have never experienced this behavior. Maybe should
talk to Epson tech support? (have latest driver?) Printer does not need much speed or band width. I print lots of documents, music sheets, photos.

Printer wakeup problem

Thank's for your reply. Steel having the same speed problem.

Printers are Epson R3000 and Epson WP-4020

For the benefit of everyone:

I was having another problem, after the printer were going in sleep mode, the router wasn't able to wakeup the printer. I did solve the problem by changing 3 setting on 2.4g. I don't know wich one solved the problem:
- preamble set to "short" instead of "long"
- DTIM interval set to "15" instead of "3"
- enable WMM APSD "disable"
