Wireless Speed

Hi,
Apologies if this has been asked or discussed hundred times if not more but i can only get half of the download speed on wifi . My router is rt-ac68u which i am running the latest Merlin fw on. My internet connection is FTTH , 100 mbps down and 10mbps up. When i am wired in i can get full speed. When i am on wireless i only get half. I have a macbook pro with retina display late 2013 .I do the tests on 5ghz channel when i am in the same room with the router not more than 2 meters away. Since there are alot of wireless settings on the router i was wondering if there is anything at all i can do to get the most out of the router in terms of wireless performance.
thanks

Hi!

Generally there are a few things you can try.
If you are on only one floor, point all antennas straight up to improve coverage.
Set the channel to one that isn't crowded.

Set beacon period/interval as high as possible. Default is 100ms but it's not needed to be that often. Beacons take a lot of bandwidth.

What adapter do you have? What connection speed (TX/RX-rate) is the router reporting for your computer if you look in the admin interface?

After spending some time reading the Router Guide site, I've been using DTIM 1 and Beacon Interval 1000 without any issues, instead of the default 3/100.
