New Around Here
Hi all,

I want to create a wireless home network where all the traffic goes through a firewall device. There are 5 PC with wifi that I want to connect, but I want the traffic to be monitorized by a firewall. I don't need internet connection, it's just a LAN. I was thinking about two solutions:
1) A wifi switch with an embedded firewall.
2) A wireless access point that has NO switching capabilities and sends all the traffic to the firewall. In this case, the firewall would redirect the traffic from different PCs.

Here are my questions:
- Do wireless firewalls exist? If so, can you recomend me a model?
- If wireless firewalls don't exist I'd go to solution #2, so can you recomend me an access point model?
- Can you think of a better solution for my situation?

I am far more concerned about security than about price.

Thank you!

theres no such thing as a wireless witch with a firewall. There is a switch with firewall though called a fully managed switch which is a whole other field of networking knowledge.

The cheapest fully managed switch is mikrotik and i dont normally suggest that. You should start reading up cisco tutorials on LAN security, its very enlightening and you will need a complicated setup. APs and switches dont come with CPUs fast enough for firewalls so you need another device fast enough to filter. Usually the switch only sends related traffic and filters away certain types of L2 traffic for layer 2 security.

Thank you S.E.M.
Then what about the access point with a firewall? Maybe my question should be if access points do usualy have switching.
