New Around Here
Hi,

I have a steel garage outside my house, and while I can get WiFi signal all around the structure, once inside the WiFi is not reachable.

I have ports in the back of my ASUS router/modem, but am unsure of what type of device I'd run from my original internet device to the shed in order to allow for wifi signal to be projected inside.

I imagine I should have either some type of signal booster or (secondary?) router hardwired via cat5/6 to the structure that would then project the signal inside as it would be located in the shed.

Can someone confirm if it's one or the other or if I have specific options, as well as if I'm restricted or not by the type of modem/router I currently have?

I would buy another router (even an RT-N12D if 'N' speeds are enough inside the shed) and use it in AP mode.

Run an Ethernet cable from your current router to the shed (make sure to do this to code!) not longer than 100M with at least a Cat5E rating.

If you have to or want to bury the cable use cable suitable for direct burial. It doesn't need to be buried very deeply you can just use a spade to cut through the dirt/turf and just push the cable down into the slit.

Regardles if you run the cable aerial or UG install RJ45 ground blocks at both ends.

Tp link CPE210 outdoor access point in client mode ($40) mounted on outside of garage facing the house. Ethernet through the wall to a small wifi router or access point.

I ran CAT5e thru that cheap black plastic water pipe. I put the cable thru the pipe and then buried it using a spade. You need to keep water out. It is probably not recommended but it worked for over 5 years until we moved. You also don't want sun on the in wall CAT5e either so I used a 90 on each end and sealed it up to the wall on each end.
