Ho guys how are you?

Today i have a 68U here at home and i use an Amped Wireless AC repeater domextend my network

The amped have some lag issues, but it works, i was thinking to get the new 87U and make my 68U as a repeater instead the amped one, or if the 87u range is way better than the 68U just saty with the 87 one and sell the 68U and the amped

What do you think guys? The 87 is a huge improve from 68U? And the 68U works well as a repeater?

Thanks

I see over double the distance with the RT-ac87r on 5GHz and a little more on 2.4GHz than on my RT-ac68r ever had . Just make sure you are using the latest firmware either Asus or Merlin's.

I don't use any repeater, no need for me at all. I never used the 5GHz on my other RT-ac68r or 66r as I would loose signal halfway through my house, now the RT-ac87r covers my entire house and garage and a little beyond,

Asus is moving very quickly on fixing problems with the RT-ac87r or u. But it is stable for me, of course it will get even better over time.

Best of luck.

Note I think this will be the best router out there for a long time for most. I also set one up for my brother and he has never complained to me about it.

Edit make sure to position the antennas as stated in the manual and rotate the router if need be, and don't use a channel that is around you if it automatically selects one.

I use both USB ports without issue and stream a dish network box (wired) to an iPad 1 (5GHz) without issues something that I could never say after a month with my older 66r and 68r.
