Replacing an aged Airport Extreme network, I just installed a new XT8 system and added a RT-AX56U as a third node. While trying to attach a Mac OS Extended external USB drive to the AX56U, I found that the drive was not recognized in the router interface. Is that because of the drive format?
The drive had been connected to one of the AE nodes, and I had been using Carbon Copy Cloner to create a redundant backup on it for various media. The AX56U shows as a network drive in the finder on my Mac, but I cannot mount it because I do not know how to setup the login information. I can see the existing backup files from the drive, but not the drive itself (the files display as if they exist directly on the AX56U).
Because the drive is not recognized by the router interface, I cannot use AiDisk to share it.
I am far from an expert in networking and would appreciate any help offered.
Thank you in advance.
