Fixed version number. Damnit! This will trigger an update to the actual amtm 4.7
Hopefully catches it early enough for the other 95% that still need to install it! :)

It’s just the version number in the file. They’ll get the changed file with the next update check - and wonder why there are two updates with the same version number. Ah well.

So, do the 'repair' options just run the opkg install entware-opt command that you had me run to recover my rc.func file?

AMTM updates flying fast and furious these days :D

No, it‘s a complete reinstall of Entware. Runs the same command as a fresh install.

For Tailmon you can prevent Entware overwriting the install via option 5 in the Custom Config Options (not custom command line).

Hi,
Re: "Starting with Asuswrt-Merlin 384.15, amtm is included in the firmware."...

I just upgraded to 388.7 on my AX3000 but still unable to locate AMTM...
-- Is there something I must do to activate it? Or, am I missing something?
-- Should it show in the "Tools" page?

Please advise this old bloke.

amtm is only accessible via ssh, not the web UI. Log into your router using ssh client of your choice, and type amtm at the command line.

Yes, it is included.

Ignore the steps to 'install' it in the link below. The rest of the guide should be helpful.

can i use this on XT12?
If you can install the merlin firmware I don't see why not. Don't recall seeing the XT12 in the merlin threads though.

https://www.asuswrt-merlin.net/ says

ZenWiFi Pro XT123004.388.7

I’m not 100% sure if there are different (e.g. non-Pro) versions of the XT12 though; don’t think so, should be fine.

There's not. I stand corrected. I never noticed it before but there is only the ZenWiFi Pro XT12, so indeed Merlin is available .

hmm ok.. but Xt12 doesnt have USB port so i guess is pointless to install amtm as well since i cant use any of the scripts.
Not quite pointless.

amtm and some of the scripts will run without a USB DISK. I know this because (as an example) I tested the MerlinAU script (which can run with or without a USB) on my AIMESH Node (an RT-AX3000), without a USB attached. I can’t give you a full list of which scripts do and which don’t need a USB though.

But right now, with Asuswrt-Merlin FW installed on it, you can ssh in and issue amtm, choose a theme and see the amtm menu.

Anything that requires entware or a swap file however, will as I understand it, need a USB Disk, so there are indeed limitations by not having a USB port.

[EDIT] It’s probably been discussed and I cannot find it, but I wonder if a NAS could be used as a substitute for the USB Drive, for entware and any scripts requiring a Disk?

k.

.

Would not work for Diversion which requires a swap file. Having a network attached swap file is a no-go, although it would be amusing to see if the router would actually allow you to set it up.

An NFS mount would probably work for things that only require 1. persistent storage, 2. entware libs/utilities. That said I know there have been issues with remote NFS mounts from ASUSwrt/Merlin over the years. I have never done anything with NFS on any WRT device in years so can't be any help on that. Maybe it would be trivial to setup I don't know. You might have issues with dependencies at boot time unless you manage waiting for the network to come up fully and for the mount to succeed.
