New Around Here
Hi guys,

I'm looking for another router to expand my wifi (wired to main).

Here are my options, used device (low cost) and flashed with ddwrt on day one.

Netgear Nighthawk X6 R8000
Netgear Nighthawk R7000
D-Link DIR-882
D-Link DIR-890
Asus RT-AC3200
Asus RT-AC68u
Linksys WRT1900ac
Linksys MR9000
TP-Link Archer C7

Let me know your thoughts.

Thanks!

For use as an Access Point you don't need to flash 3rd party firmware. There is no routing there and 3rd party compatibility limits your hardware choices. Some routers have Access Point mode in firmware, many others can be converted with DHCP disabled and LAN port connection to the Router. Most of the models on your list are with outdated Broadcom BCM4360 radios, early AC Wave 1 draft compliant from around 2012. I understand you look at low cost, but this is >12 years old hardware.

I would rather get a new TP-Link Archer A6. It's small in size, AC Wave 2 radio, adequate range, Access Point mode available in firmware.

The price above is in Canadian Dollars, CAD45 is around USD33. I don't know where do you live, but look around. It's "fresher" hardware at least.
