Diversion Need help with selecting new set of filter lists / block lists for Diversion 5.0

Another vote for Hagezi, they are updated often and well maintained. https://github.com/hagezi/dns-blocklists

    controld

It costs about $40 a year but you get a discount if you have their VPN as well. It's a business, it's not about being altruistic. They didn't have any logs a first but people wanted it so they implemented logs, it's max 3 days I think. Their vpn doesn't keep any logs at all. It all depends on...

    controld

I have mine setup so all my own personal devices (mostly Apple) use a secure dns profile on the device, the rest go through the ctrld proxy on the router which handles the guest wifi as well. You can set the client to send different subnets to their own resolvers on controld.

    controld

They (ControlD) have a dns client compatible with Merlin, works reasonably well. A new beta is coming perhaps next week with more features.

Any suggestions? Nobody uses ControlD as their DNS provider?

Beta Asuswrt-Merlin 388.1 Beta is available for select models

@RMerlin I'm having some trouble getting DoT to work with the 388.1 betas but only with my dns-provider as far as I can tell, Quad9/Cloudflare etc seem to work. It used to work fine in 386.7. I have tried Dnsmasq and Stubby logging as you can see in the support thread at ControlD here: ControlD...

Beta Asuswrt-Merlin 388.1 Beta is available for select models

Opportunistic mode works so I don't know what has changed, always used to run strict mode.

Beta Asuswrt-Merlin 388.1 Beta is available for select models

The strange thing is, I don't have local dnssec validation enabled anywhere and it only happens with ControlD DoT-servers. At least CF and Quad9 works... It would be great if someone could try their free DoT servers and see if it works for them (I use their paid version). For example...

Beta Asuswrt-Merlin 388.1 Beta is available for select models

I don't know if this is the same problem but I ran into dns problems after upgrading to 388.1b. I had DoT configured on the router for ControlD and after the upgrade dns resolution failed almost completely. If I changed to Cloudflare or Quad9 it worked again. Not sure what happed, had to make a...

WAN on AX86U Slower than previous router

Probably because Wireguard disables flow cache? http://www.snbforums.com/threads/asuswrt-386-rc3-3-public-beta-for-ipv6-ddns-and-ipv6-vpn-server.75829/post-732013

    ad blocking

I can recommend DietPi, easy setup of either Pi-Hole or Adguard and Unbound as well. Works on different hardware and even VMs.

    Asus AX/AXE Slow Upload Speeds

It might be a combination of different thing, like clients and wifi channel etc. On my iOS devices I get slower upload speed compared to download but on my Windows devices it's the other way round. My upload is 300-330 though so it's not bad but download is maybe 430 at best. I live in an...

OpenVPN client speed - Merlin 384.19 vs 386.1

Contacted WeVPN support and they suggested I try the clients on a computer and compare 2.5 and 2.4 which I did. I've never used it on my Windows laptop before so I don't know which speeds to expect but 2.4 and 2.5 were about the same with max 120-130Mbps. Using WeVPN on my AC86U with 384.19 gave...

Beta Asuswrt-Merlin 386.1 Beta (stage 2) is now available

I have a new AX86U which I haven't unpacked yet, I'll check later if this model has the same problem. This is interesting.. https://www.snbforums.com/threads/asuswrt-386-rc2-public-beta-with-full-functions-aimesh-2-0-continued.69274/#post-602866

Beta Asuswrt-Merlin 386.1 Beta (stage 2) is now available

Still seeing around 50% reduction in openvpn client download speed compared to 384.19 on my AC86U, CPU usage seems higher when downloading through vpn as well. Anyone else notice this?

Route certain clients through other gateway?

I have a Raspberry Pi 4B setup as a Wireguard client gateway, is there a simple way to route certain clients through this gateway without changing the default gw on the clients?

Beta Asuswrt-Merlin 386.1 Beta (stage 2) is now available

No one else noticing the reduced client speeds when using Openvpn with 386.1B? At least on the AC86U? I downgraded to 384.19 again and the difference is quite big. Almost twice the speeds using 384.19 compared to the beta..

Beta Asuswrt-Merlin 386.1 Beta (stage 2) is now available

@RMerlin I'm seeing half of the normal OpenVPN client speeds with my AC86U on 386.1 B4b. Any idea what could be causing this and what I could do to troubleshoot? EDIT: Also I think the cpu usage is higher on 386.1B when using openvpn...

Beta Asuswrt-Merlin 386.1 Beta (stage 2) is now available

I noticed the same thing with my AC86U, almost half the normal speed compared to 384.19. I just thought there was something wrong with mine at the time...
