Hi,

Is there a solution to interacting with settings under merlin without a browser at all?

I am thinking an Api call (with proper authentication), or similar maybe for basic things such as reboot, maybe to turn on/off Vpn, enable/disable wifi, etc..

A quick search throws up this pages: https://github.com/RMerl/asuswrt-merlin.ng/wiki/Addons-API, but before i get involved with what looks like a total rabbit hole.. is it even the right thing to be looking at..

If not, and there also isn't a ready made solution, if someone out there has any ideas for a starting point i can go off and start.. i am a developer by trade, so only need a thread to pull on really.. i am expecting to need to write a webservice, and somehow run it on the device??

Cheers!

Sounds like you want SSH?

well, i already have SSH enabled, and use some add-ons.. that's fine..

i suppose i could automate using that.. not sure on the limitations of what you can/cannot do with SSH - will need to investigate, is it possible to enable/disable a VPN client for example?

i was thinking more about an http service, maybe REST endpoint maybe... but any/all suggestions welcome!

There's probably one from Asus for their mobile app, but it's undocumented.
