Recommendation on NAS for home use?

Currently it does what is needed and yes our need is pretty basic and last I checked we still had a 4 * WD red+ 3TB drives in mint condition. But for example had to go find the outdated DS Photo app to android phone that supported DSM 6.2.xx when wife got a new phone last autumn and question is...

Recommendation on NAS for home use?

hi, as Synology now is making it impossible to continue using their devices - looking for advice on what instead our old Synology DS412+? Requirements: - 2 - 4 bay system - RAID support (2-bay: RAID 0&1 - bigger more ;) ) - RJ-45 port ( 1GBe enough) - Usage: file, photo, audio and media...

Synology will try to lock you into using their branded drives

Have to agree, even Tom's HW reporting this. o_O As I'm looking to replace our old DS412+, that has mainly been our file, media &photo server, - I've been eagerly thinking about the DS225+ or DS425+ (opt in for surveillance in future). But with WD Red+ HDD running for over a decade and still...

    Release ASUS RT-BE86U Firmware version 3.0.0.6.102_37812 (2025/02/19)

Just updated, no immediate issues. 👍 Will try to connect our Nedis smartlife firealarms sometime later. (Haven't managed to connect these to this router so far - worked fine with RT-AX86U). Nedis smartlfe smart plugs, in- and outdoor, works just fine...

    BE86U - worth upgrading from AX86U Pro?

Upgraded AX86U (not pro) to BE86U roughly 2 months ago as found a good deal... To be honest, I do feel I was bit early out, just as @_Harald_ wrote. Our main drawback findings are: - My wife (we both work from home majority of time) isn't happy, as this new router has an small extra delay to...

Maintenance free, reliable and hopefully cheap router with WLAN?

My mom would need a new router (with RJ-45 WAN socket) that also has basic WLAN. So nothing fancy is needed. (But as her condition is getting weaker we have now installed some smart machines to her - so can remotely monitor some things... ex. latest new fridge/freezer - so don't leave door...

RT-BE86U - how to disable Smart connect?

I have 2 * shelly Pro 1 controllers and they where just fine inserted into my new router. Yes I did the logging onto the controllers WLAN network and defining it that way to be part of the new setup - as said I had no problems here.

RT-BE86U - how to disable Smart connect?

Well that didn't help either 😭 Factory reset & Power Cycle the router and Power Cycle the fibre to Rj-45 modem.

RT-BE86U - how to disable Smart connect?

Fiber - I just can't see what role the fiber to RJ-45 modem would play in failure of some IoT devices... But, yes... I think for next I must Factory reset & power cycle the device and reinstall from scratch everything... o_O Easy job for router specs - more of an annoyance as have renamed all...

RT-BE86U - how to disable Smart connect?

It worked with my old RT-AX86U in guest network just fine and it was using WPA2-Personal authentication method. Here is a screen capture from my setup-logs that had stored

RT-BE86U - how to disable Smart connect?

Thx for the tip. Disabled both MLO and 5GHz radio - but didn't help. (And I'm ca 3 m from router when trying to connect.) PS: Users Manual only available in English - and it's mainly an index to on-line FAQ database.

RT-BE86U - how to disable Smart connect?

    Just like you say, I wrote in my last message... So, let me spell it out: I have 4 different SSID's with unique pwd's in use. - SSID_1 & PWD_1 for 5 GHz (Family use) - SSID_2 & PWD_2 for 2,4 GHz (Family use) - SSID_3 & PWD_3 for 2,4 GHz ((Guest network in own VLAN)) - SSID_4 & PWD_4 ffor 2,4...

RT-BE86U - how to disable Smart connect?

How do I disable smart connect on RT-BE86U? Having trouble to get my Nedis Smartlife smoke detectors to connect to the new network... Contacted Nedis Technical support and got a reply that Asus routers have had a problem as smart connect tries to force to 5GHz and then dropping as doesn't...
