    ASUS Krackattack patch?

I’ve got what may be a dumb question. From what I’ve read so far the fix for the Krack issue is a client side fix. The issue cannot be fixed with a patch on the AP. So how can your WPA2 network ever be safe again? Sure, responsible people will patch their clients when patches become...

    AC3100 - Airplay Nonsense!

If my receiver, or any airplay destination, is wired is the IGMP setting still important?

    Problem overclocking RT-AC66U-B1

I don't believe that overclocking is allowed by Asus any longer.

    AC66U - 5GHz radio death?

Arbores - on the Professional tab of the 5 GHz radio, there is an option to disable the radio. Have you checked that setting?

    AC66U - 5GHz radio death?

RT-AC66U with 380.68 Merlin release. Months ago the 5 GHz radio stopped working if the channel bandwidth option chosen was either of the options that have 80 MHz in them. 20 MHz and 40 MHz worked fine, 80 MHz and 20/40/80 did not. The SSID could never be found. Last week the router started...

    Control Channel on 2.4GHz

I'll admit I've learned something about the 2.4 GHz channels in this thread. Thanks OP for the topic. One question. Earlier someone mention that using 20 MHz is desirable, or perhaps more considerate, over 40 MHz. Do you sacrifice something in that choice like potential speed?

    Control Channel on 2.4GHz

I was unaware that this was a physics discussion.

    Control Channel on 2.4GHz

I said it "can be" and "some times". Obviously you have to take your own situation in to account. There are no black and white rules that apply best to every situation.

    Control Channel on 2.4GHz

In a perfect world where you were able to control all the wireless networks around you then you would probably avoid using overlapping channels. But in reality using non overlapping (with neighbors, etc) channels is often impossible and, because of that, using a channel that only overlaps...

    Control Channel on 2.4GHz

Channels other than 1,6, and 11 are not non-standard channels. And, in certain circumstances, particularly when other wifi networks exist that you cannot control, it's possible that they can be the best choice.

*ISSUE FOUND* RT-AC66U - 5 Ghz radio not working on 380.65_4

Do you have the B1 revision?

    RT-AC1750 and Merlin?

Yes, the B1 part is pertinent to the firmware you choose.

    New install. Unexpected issue.

    What he said.

    RT-AC1750 and Merlin?

Like you said, I believe you have the AC66U. I have one too. When you go looking for the right Merlin Firmware to install keep in mind that there are two hardware revisions for the AC66U and it matters.

*ISSUE FOUND* RT-AC66U - 5 Ghz radio not working on 380.65_4

Bump. Hoping for a knowledgeable comment on the 80MHz observation.

*ISSUE FOUND* RT-AC66U - 5 Ghz radio not working on 380.65_4

Some interesting news. If, on my RT-AC66U, the 5 GHz radio's channel bandwidth setting is set to either the 20/40/80 MHz setting OR just 80 MHz, the radio appears not to work, the SSID never shows up in site surveys on either my laptop or my iPhone. I'm using Acrylic Wi-Fi Home on my laptop...
