Diversion Diversion - the Router Ad-Blocker

I just noticed that the version of amtm on my router is old, 3.1.4. When I press U it displays the version number of the various components installed but it loops and the only way I can seemingly get it to stop looping is by pressing cntrl-c. Perhaps the looping is a bug in amtm 3.1.4, maybe...

[Release] Asuswrt-Merlin 384.17 (and 384.13_8) are now available

What about trying the android devices on cellular - or connecting them to the 2.4 GHz network to test your theory?

[Release] Asuswrt-Merlin 384.17 (and 384.13_8) are now available

I’d suspect the Zoom app on the android devices or the VPN before the router or wireless band. You didn’t mention if the surface device or desktop PC goes through the VPN. Do the android phones connect to zoom with Wi-Fi turned off, on cellular? I’d try to access zoom without the VPN on the...

    Question about Traffic Analyer

Alright, this is going to make me seem crazy. I’ve been looking at the traffic analyzer and QoS bandwidth analyzer for quite some time. Some would say it’s a little OCD but what can I say, I just enjoy looking at these things. After changing no settings, today for the first time I’ve ever...

    Question about Traffic Analyer

I’m curious if someone can explain to me why traffic to and from my work laptop, connected to my company via a VPN software client, is seemingly invisible to the router. I fully understand that the router should not be able to see what sites are being accessed in that traffic (other than the...

moving from AC68P to AC86U ... easy way to move settings?

You think you want to..... but you don’t. Set everything up from scratch is the generally preached best practice around here.

I gotta agree with you. I’d prefer them all in one location as well.

    AP vs Mesh

I’d second the recommendation that you use powerline rather than wireless for the backhaul. Buy the powerline adapters some place you can return them just in case they don’t work well in your home. I’ve used them at different times and they did the trick.

    AP vs Mesh

Do you have Ethernet where you plan on placing the second AP or are you forced to have a Wi-Fi repeater?

    Possible Router Upgrade

Unfortunately the AC3200 does not support aimesh. I wish it did as I have one collecting dust.

    Possible Router Upgrade

Honestly, absent any other needs not being served by your current router, your AC3200 will serve you fine with that connection.

    Possible Router Upgrade

I don’t think we know the speed of his fiber connection yet.

    Possible Router Upgrade

Anything other than the fiber internet making you think you want an upgrade? Is the fiber gigabit speed? Otherwise maybe the AC86U.
