    RT-N56U firmware 3.0.0.4.376.1665

I noticed that this firmware update adds a "client" tab to the VPN page. But it doesn't work as the .asp file it links to doesn't exist (/Advanced_VPNClient_Content.asp). Is this a mistake and it shouldn't be there, or is it a broken planned feature? Would be so useful to have VPN client...

    ASUS RT-N56U beta firmware

As you have since found out, it was an issue with uPnP and related settings. Perhaps you might benefit from copying my settings? I also play Halo, Quake, Quake 3, and F.E.A.R. - which are all very sensitive to lag. I have no problems at all. However, I do have uPnP enabled, so it may a...

    ASUS RT-N56U beta firmware

I've never looked into the exact cause - I have no Apple products to make me care ;-) Just recall seeing a number of threads on this issue on various forums. From what I recall, it is an Apple flaw. This is unsurprising, since they are terrible with sticking to standards. Eg, the Apple TV never...

    ASUS RT-N56U beta firmware

Well there's a problem right there. You can never have the lowest latency ALL the time unless you are on the same local network as the server. Anything over the Internet is going to be unpredictable and beyond your control. Either use different servers that are physically closer to you, or get a...

    ASUS RT-N56U beta firmware

If you upload at maximum speed, your download speeds will naturally decrease because downloading requires packets to be sent upstream at the same time (ACK etc). If you have saturated your upstream, then you aren't going to be able to download at full speed. Likewise, if you have saturated your...

    ASUS RT-N56U beta firmware

Disable "IGMP Snooping". Should fix all Apple related woes. Found under Wireless -> Professional settings.

    ASUS RT-N56U beta firmware

Laughable. A non-existant problem perpetuated by people with cheap routers and bad ISPs. None of the "experiments" on that site gave me any trouble and nor would they give anyone trouble if they have a properly set up network, a decent ISP and a decent router. Even the Wikipedia entry for this...

    ASUS RT-N56U beta firmware

.334 is solid here for me so far. Running Media Server from a USB stick. I did a full settings reset after flashing, as one of the previous versions had messed up the wifi bridge mode somehow.

    ASUS RT-N56U beta firmware

DDNS failure Now I am on .334 (coming from .318), I keep getting DDNS failure messages. I use the ASUS DDNS. I got errors before, but they went away. Now I have a consistent yellow exclamation mark on router homepage after "myname.asuscomm.com". Clicking the mark produces a blank box that...

    AC66u and Android Problems

Mobile devices disconnecting - power-save mode incompatible I've had this issue in the past. It's related to the power-save mode (APSD). Usually, the mobile device doesn't implement it or even support it at all (or more rarely, the router if it's an old Netgear). On most Android phones the...

    ASUS RT-N56U beta firmware

Ah ok. A workaround might be to enter a fixed DNS entry on the router somehow (if you use the router DNS that is). That way, when you are at home mydyndnsname.com would return your internal IP address. I had a similar setup once for my Quake server, but using entries in the hosts files on my LAN...

    ASUS RT-N56U beta firmware

Why do you want to access the remote interface from within your LAN?

    ASUS RT-N56U beta firmware

Hmm, ok so that explains the Upper/Lower thing. But why does using channel 1 as the main (Lower) so that the extension *should* be channel 5, result in 20Mhz only with no sign of ch5 being used? The explanation in that post offers no solution to that. Also, the description of the extension...

    ASUS RT-N56U beta firmware

2.4 GHz 40Mhz setting appears to be broken! I've noticed a problem in this firmware (and the previous release) with the 2.4GHz WiFi settings. When selecting either 40MHz or 20/40Mhz, the extension channel options are simply "Upper" and "Lower". However, they are the wrong way around. Let's...

    ASUS RT-N56U beta firmware

Been using v3.0.0.4.154 for a while now, and wondered about a few things: 1) When selecting the extension channel for wifi, the options are "Upper" and "Lower". They are the wrong way round. If I use channel 1 as my main channel, the only extension channel is 5 (Upper), but the option...

    ASUS RT-N56U beta firmware

Is there ever likely to be VLAN and guest WiFi support on the RT-N56U? I recently started using these beta firmwares as the "normal" ones are terrible. Really like the GUI on these beta versions, and they seem very stable. I look forward to future development.
