Shut off network for a device at a specific time using Mac address? RT-AC88U

Ok, so potentially connections like port forwarded ones are flagged to bypass hardware acceleration, if that is at all possible. Otherwise it's likely CTF is generally disabled on your router due to the requirements of the facilities your using. The idea is that any facility that requires a...

Shut off network for a device at a specific time using Mac address? RT-AC88U

Oh, as far as ports open etc, CTF is apparently more of a hindrance. From my understanding there are two levels of CTF, plain CTF and CTF + AF. With both, documentation states you are unable to port forward and I'm guessing the router determines whether CTF should be in use, hence enabling CTF...

Shut off network for a device at a specific time using Mac address? RT-AC88U

A beast it is! ;) ... I only just realised the QoS option I'd recently chosen (bandwidth limiter) wasn't working correctly so I've now disabled CTF, which has fixed it. Unfortunately I'm on ADSL2+ so I can't determine if there's going to be a significant performance hit if disabling CTF is a...

Shut off network for a device at a specific time using Mac address? RT-AC88U

I just tested and it seemed to work fine for me. I'll do some longer term testing with my son's devices. I'm on an RT-AC5300 running latest Merlin stable. I did see this...

[RT-AC68U] Weak WiFi performance in repeater mode

What you've suggested utilises the fastest options you have available for what you want to do. If you wanted to consolidate, you could get a tri band extender. One device for 5Ghz backhaul and wireless advertisement. You're total throughput is all going to depend on maintaining optimal...

[RT-AC68U] Weak WiFi performance in repeater mode

I haven't tried but I'm assuming with the tri band routers like my ac5300, you can dedicate one 5Ghz band to backhaul whilst still advertising the other. Sent from my MI 5 using Tapatalk

[RT-AC68U] Weak WiFi performance in repeater mode

Repeater speeds will generally be less than half the connection speed. If everything checks out in AP mode it may just be that Using the media bridge/wifi backhaul option may be a better option. What your wanting to do is extend your wifi rather than repeat it. There's some decent dualband...

Shut off network for a device at a specific time using Mac address? RT-AC88U

Check the router has synchronised it's time correctly and the correct timezone is set. Also if you haven't, update the firmware or try Merlin, you may be dealing with a legacy issue. The feature _should_ work. Just some suggestions, sorry if they're of no help. Sent from my MI 5 using Tapatalk

TV can't see DNLA server via RT-86U

A Kodi box or really an Android TV box just gives you the power to decode your media using your preferred app, Kodi is optional, though Kodi is awesome in it's own right. Plex is great where Kodi isn't available (you can use either on Android) and technically you can set up trakt.tv for both to...

TV can't see DNLA server via RT-86U

The best option for me has always been some random "Kodi box" or Android TV box. They're so cheap and so powerful, it really doesn't matter that they might not be supported long term. Sent from my MI 5 using Tapatalk

TV can't see DNLA server via RT-86U

If you're asking if Plex is easy to set up, it's no harder than a DLNA server. Plex actually has it's own built in DLNA implementation that you can either choose to enable or disable. I just don't like how the Plex client on certain platforms relies on transcoding despite the platforms...

TV can't see DNLA server via RT-86U

Just double check the TV is now obtaining the same IP for both gateway and DNS. Sent from my MI 5 using Tapatalk

TV can't see DNLA server via RT-86U

Same thing. If you clear out the LAN DNS options then it will automatically assign the router as the DHCP assigned DNS. Currently the TV is querying a DNS server outside of your network that is unaware of locally assigned host names. This is possibly the issue. But also possibly not. Best...

TV can't see DNLA server via RT-86U

Yeah you don't really want LAN clients doing external DNS lookups, you won't be able to resolve other local clients amongst other things. Even if this doesn't help, set your WAN DNS to 1.1.1.1 if you want but DHCP should be issuing the router's IP to LAN clients. It'll be interesting to see if...

TV can't see DNLA server via RT-86U

Just an FYI, I have an Asus RT-AC5300 (latest Merlin fw) and a D-Link smart switch and none of the UPnP, multicast nor the IGMP proxy options are enabled (switch and router) and DLNA works for my PS4, Bravia, random Kodi box and all mobile devices (mix of wired and wireless across 3 seperate...

TV can't see DNLA server via RT-86U

It appears someone else has had some unexpected behaviour occur for DLNA quite some time ago. Knowing whether the problem is affecting other DLNA clients would help isolate it to the intermediary devices, though changing the listed setting won't hurt...

TV can't see DNLA server via RT-86U

Well at least you ruled out that as a potential fix. Seeing as you said you had the exact same results when using a switch, it's unlikely to be the router. The TV is just a DLNA client and if another DLNA client can see the server (not sure if you've tested) then there's still something up with...

TV can't see DNLA server via RT-86U

That's a good point, the TV should have a network status section that would at least indicate a valid connection. Whether it's functional though ... Sent from my MI 5 using Tapatalk

TV can't see DNLA server via RT-86U

DLNA is pretty generic, the Panasonic media player shouldn't stop seeing the server due to an update being required. I'd pull the cable and plug it into something else DLNA aware. Windows 10 should see it natively, or use Kodi. Try a different port, try wireless if it's supported. Failing that...

RT-AC5300 5G_2 Band Issue ... Is It Dead?

I have to hand it to you for being thorough. I hit like on rmerlin rather than saying a similar thing. I probably would have stopped at flash and factory reset! It definitely sounds like dodgy nvram/hardware fault. That's great they've been accommodating and proactively sent a replacement...
