    ASUS RT-AC86U Firmware version 3.0.0.4.384_81049

@OgUrecheK How is the beta firmware working for you so far? I'm glad to see a new firmware is in the works but this is around the 3rd firmware that Asus has released and subsequently pulled this year which doesn't strike much confidence in me, so hopefully this one is different.

It's time to move to Netgear?

On my last Netgear router the firmware and support left much to be desired. The wifi would cut off intermittently and finally the radios burned out after a year. Although I was able to flash OpenWrt on it and can use it as a wired router. Even though Asus has bungled the firmware releases...

Question about 5GHz Channel Selection (Asus 86U)

Do you recall the theory as to why the high band is better? I haven't experimented too much with 5ghz channels but found the lower band gave me a couple of dBm better signal strength so I stuck with that.

    ASUS RT-AC68U Firmware version 3.0.0.4.384.45713

Unfortunately 45717 has had no improvement for this random logless drop/auto reconnect issue. And the last few days it has been been dropping like a bastard for me, more-so than usual. I'll probably try factory resetting it again if it keeps up. Does anyone know what firmware this issue became...

    ASUS RT-AC68U Firmware version 3.0.0.4.384.45717 [2019/05/13]

I'm still having the dropping issue with this firmware and I also did a factory reset when I installed it. This issue has existed for the last several releases for me.

    ASUS RT-AC68U Firmware version 3.0.0.4.384.45717 [2019/05/13]

Thanks for the suggestion but I've never used Auto and have tried different channels, both high & low band. I've also checked my network with InSSIDer and don't have any competing 5ghz networks; I found the lower band gives me better signal strength by about 3-5 dBm. You can check the signal...

    ASUS RT-AC68U Firmware version 3.0.0.4.384.45717 [2019/05/13]

I upgraded to .45717 on the 20th and still have the stability issue discussed at the previous release so I don't think there were any hidden fixes in this release other than the security listed. I'm going to send another feedback and hope for the next release.

    ASUS RT-AC68U Firmware version 3.0.0.4.384.45717 [2019/05/13]

I'll be upgrading later today and will report back whether it addresses the issue or not. Actually I was just about to downgrade because of this problem. I had reported the issue using the feedback tool but never got a response but hopefully they are aware of it.

    ASUS RT-AC68U Firmware version 3.0.0.4.384.45713

Okay, so I've been using 45713 for over a week now and can say the problem still exists for me. The disconnect seems to occur at about the same frequency as previous versions. It's what other have described here -- the internet drops, after a minute or so it automatically recovers , it doesn't...

    ASUS RT-AC68U Firmware version 3.0.0.4.384.45713

No I haven't tested Merlin yet. I was going to wait a week or so to get a better feel for this firmware. Or is this an issue that @RMerlin fixed but Asus didn't? I'll cheerfully try Merlin next. I was just confirming reports of a bug so there is really no need to be cynical here. After screwing...

    ASUS RT-AC68U Firmware version 3.0.0.4.384.45713

I can only speak for myself but yes I'm using version 45713 that was released just a few days ago and I did a factory restore and set everything up again without using a config file. For me this error occurs randomly and I've only been on this update (45713) for three days so I really don't...

    ASUS RT-AC68U Firmware version 3.0.0.4.384.45713

I've been having this issue on a couple of clients for a few releases, since at least 3.0.0.4.384.32799. It has happened to me since upgrading to 3.0.0.4.384.45713 so the issue still isn't fixed but I'm not yet sure if its happening more or less frequently.

    Asus RT-AC68 offered 3.0.0.4.384_45708

Manual update worked fine. I think that auto update error was either a broken link or server time out. Anyway I've been on 45713 for a day and so far everything seems to be working.

    Asus RT-AC68 offered 3.0.0.4.384_45708

On my previous update I used auto update via the Admin page under Firmware Upgrade -> Check Update and it worked fine. Now when I try that I get this message. "No Internet connection is detected. The router cannot connect to ASUS server to check for the firmware update. After reconnecting to the...

    Asus RT-AC68 offered 3.0.0.4.384_45708

Great. I just saw this listed for my RT-AC66U_B1, I'll update this evening and report back later.

    RT-AC68U types Firmware version 3.0.0.4.384_45149 for RT-AC68U/R/W/P, RT-AC1900/U/P and RT-AC66U_B1

Is that the only issue you've had with the RT-AC66U_B1 on this firmware? I haven't had time to upgrade yet so I'm still on the previous 3.0.0.4.384.32799 and the client list always an issue where it drops and repopulates. I have an issue with some clients where the internet drops for 10 secs...

    RT-AC66U B1 dropping internet

I've been playing with the settings - by changing one setting, then waiting a day or two and see if anything changes. Now I turned off the Roaming Assistant and my speed jumped 30-35Mbps! Which was about the speed I was expecting. Not sure why I overlooked Roaming Assistant for so long as I only...

    RT-AC66U B1 dropping internet

Just a quick update. The internet connection issue is less prominent since turning Air Fairness and Beamforming off, however it does still occur. I haven't noticed anything in the log files other than these 'roamast: eth2: add client [mac address] to monitor list'. Some of the entries occur...

    RT-AC66U B1 dropping internet

Ok, the firmware I'm using is one dated 19-Sept-18 from asus, I'll give one of those merlin firmwares a shot if nothing resolves the issue. As long as I can revert it back in the off case I have to return the router, though I'd rather try and figure out the issue. I don't use Aimesh or anything...

    RT-AC66U B1 dropping internet

Thanks for the responses everyone... I really didn't test it with IPV6. I'll give it a shot and report back. My IPV6 settings are.. Type = Native DHCP-PD = enabled Auto Config = Stateless Connect to DNS Server automatically = Enable Enable Router Advertisement = Enable If that worked then...
