Maybe time for a router upgrade?

Hey guys, currently running a Draytek 2862 for modem and router duties but getting bored with that so fancy a change. Been looking at the Microtik RB3011 and seems to be pretty good. Is this better than the Ubiquiti Er4? spec wise it seems to fall behind the ubiquiti but I guess that doesn’t...

    WAP571 New Firmware

I haven't tried wifi calling, but there is no drop of Wifi going between access points with the iPhone. The wifi signal drops to 2 bars, and then jumps back to three quite quickly. My only thought with the 581, would mean better throughput on the network, and maybe a bit of future proofing...

    WAP571 New Firmware

Only reason really is that it is going for a good price, and is a step up from the 571's. :D I really should try and do a network throughput test. I have downloaded the TamoSoft test programs but don't even know where to start using my MBP and iphone!

    WAP571 New Firmware

Hi Guys, and apologies for the late reply. Currently, have two 571, one on the ground floor and one on the first floor, and roaming between the two, works extremely well. I have the power on both set at 50%. Thanks Trip, i am going to get the 581 and try it in place of both the 571 as you...

    WAP571 New Firmware

Thanks, sorry i wasnt very clear. I have bought the one WAP581 although i am currently running 2 x WAP571 AP's standalone and was assuming that the roaming function would only be available running a dedicated controller for the two AP's. This is the POE switch i am currently using...

    WAP571 New Firmware

Ah ok thanks. Just doing a comparison between the two on the Cisco website, and it states that both do 802.11r (when supported by driver). I am using them standalone so I assume this function is not available without a proper controller? Also, i have a POE+ Linksys 16 port switch so i assume...

    WAP571 New Firmware

Hi Guys, Being a little slow with firmware updates, a couple of days ago, i updated my WAP571 access points to the latest 1.1.0.3 and the transformation is brilliant. The GUI has had a massive update, and to me, wifi seems a little snappier across all devices. Lesson learnt to keep an eye put...

    Internet / Wifi to outbuilding

Ah yes, looks like the 2.4 should be fine! At the moment, i have a TS8Pro switch at the transmit end, that i will use to power the unit. I take it that, if i use an injector at the receiving end, i can use a standard poe+ switch, that i can then use to power the nano receiver, and an outdoor...

    Internet / Wifi to outbuilding

Thanks. Yes i sis contemplate running a cable, however, the terrain and cost would far out weigh the amount it would be for a ptp set up. So, any reason why 2.4 is preferred with that distance? https://www.broadbandbuyer.com/products/23815-ubiquiti-locom2-kit-pnp/ The pre configured cost for...

    Internet / Wifi to outbuilding

Hi guys, I have an outbuilding (summer house) thats 40-50M away from the main house and although there is a Unifi AC pro about 40M away from it in an extension thats attached to the rear of the house, the wifi isnt great. With that in mind, to get good wifi in the summer house (and beyond to a...

    CISCO WAP571 dropping clients.

Hi, I am in and out with work so i sometimes don't get chance to spend a lot of time on it! According to the Cisco web site, the WAP571 peak power is 18 watts and can be powered by an 802.3 at/af switch, which the Linksys switches are, the 16 port has a total budget of 80W, and the 8 port is...

    CISCO WAP571 dropping clients.

    CISCO WAP571 dropping clients.

My apologies they are both Linksys! https://www.linksys.com/gb/p/P-LGS116P/ And https://www.linksys.com/gb/p/P-LGS108P/ Both AP's are the WAP571-E-K9. My previous controller based Cisco 2702i AP's worked fine from the 116, so i don't think its a power issue.

    CISCO WAP571 dropping clients.

Hi thanks. Yes i did wonder but i'm sure if there is a was to upload a config file? The 571 is being powered by a netgear POE+ switch. It was being powered by a Linksys POE+

Posted a thread over a couple of days ago and so far only one reply. In fact, my thread is still at the top! Seems a bit dead over there, unless i posted in the wrong forum.

    Help setting up IPV6

Hi Guys, Currently running a Draytek 2862 in bridge mode, along with an ER4 for routing duties. I have just signed up to an ISP that also gives out IPV6 so i would like to configure everything ready for the switch over in a week or two. The 2862 currently has IPV6 enabled, so i am assuming i...
