    DNSmasq..... Any benefits?

Hi guys, Could someone explain in reasonable detail, the advantages of using DNSmasq instead of the standard DNS set up? I have considered setting it up on my ER4, but i'm not sure what 'performance' benefits it would bring to my network & devices. Thanks :)

Setting Up Guest Network Cisco WAP571

Sorry about the late reply guys. Thanks for the suggestions. With acl, do you need the Mac addresses of the clients first?

    Draytek 2862 or Cisco RV260P

I think after looking at those and various options, i might stick with the Linksys for now. I don't need anything as involved as a managed switch as its only running a few devices, and three POE AP's.

    Draytek 2862 or Cisco RV260P

After browsing a bit more I’m maybe thinking of going for the edge router 4. So, leave the 2862 but run as modem only, er4 and then an 8 or 16 port unmanaged Poe+ switch my Linksys. Do you guys have any suggestions? :)

    Draytek 2862 or Cisco RV260P

Thanks everyone. What's SoC? I was running a Ubiquiti ERPOE-5, along with my switch, modem, and two 2702 AP's with a controller, but i really wanted to condense all the boxes a bit as we have had a change around in layout. Trip, Do you have a router recommendation? I currently have a 16 port...

    Draytek 2862 or Cisco RV260P

Thanks for the reply. My reasoning behind the 260P was the poe element, and not needing so many ports. I was contemplating the 345P but at almost double the price, it's a bit out of reach. Is there anything in particular that goes against the 2 series? I have hunted around online and there...

    Draytek 2862 or Cisco RV260P

Hi Guys, Currently running the Draytek, but have an opportunity to grab a 260P at a reasonable price. Would the 260 be better in overall performance? I am running 2 x WAP571 access points, so i could use that with these, and re configure the Draytek to act as modem only. Thanks

Setting Up Guest Network Cisco WAP571

Hi Guys, Currently test driving the WAP571 and all good so far, however, i am having a little trouble setting up a guest wifi network that allows internet access only. These are, via a poe switch, connected to LAN1 on my Draytek 2862. I have set up a network on the 2.4 band and ticked the...

    Help me out with clustering!

Hi all, Just got a Cisco WAP571 up and running and is working well. However, i am new to clustering and don't have a clue about how it is supposed to work. I will be adding another 571 at some point to extend range. So, is clustering a way of AP's performing better together or is it just...

    Cisco AP Replacement advice.

Thanks Trip. Would you believe that i tried all those as well before ending up with the 2702's. Anyway, I have the 571 up and running now and is very good. Only thing is that there isnt the detailed control of the 2702 but then, they don't cost as much as the 2702! Thanks for the help. :)

    Cisco AP Replacement advice.

No i hadnt even thought about staying with Cisco. I've just had a look and that seems to be perfect, although just browsin Amazon, i have found somewhere that has the WAP571 for not much more cost wise so i'm going to give one of those a try. Thanks! :)

    Cisco AP Replacement advice.

Hi all, Currently running 2 x 2702i APs and a 2504 controller. I now have to replace this system with something that is just as good but without the controller. Reason being is that due to a change around, the controller would be quite audible from a working perspective (amongst other things)...

Ubiquiti UAP AC Pro in place of Cisco

Hi all, Currently running 2 x Cisco 2702i APs with a 2504 WLC but would like to simplify things. Looking at the UAP AC PRO as a possible replacement to the above to do away with the controller etc and was wondering if the Ubiquiti would be the ones to go for, or maybe something else? I...

    16Port Switch Suggestions.

Thanks for all the suggestions. Yes I did wonder about separate switches as I have the edge router set up to enable all spare ports as switch ports. My only concern is that by having two switches connected to the router may have an effect on performance?

    16Port Switch Suggestions.

Hi all, I think i may have narrowed down my network issues to my current switch, a Linksys 16Port gigabit POE+ switch. Don't really know why but it seems to be a bottleneck, casuing issues. So, could anyone recommend an unmanaged replacement? After having a quick look, there does not seem to...

    Cisco RV130 Network Dropouts

After your suggestion of investigating, the upgrade should not over write any settings etc so i am good to go! Thanks for all of your help :)

    Cisco RV130 Network Dropouts

Ok thanks. My main concern was that they seem to have added a lot of new features and that they would require a bit of setting up for it to work again. I have saved a current config back up file, so when i upgrade, can i use this file to upload my original internet connection, firewall and...
