ASUS RT-N66U Dark Knight Dual-Band Wireless-N900 Gigabit Router Reviewed

Don't use Auto. Choose a channel manually, between 1, 6, and 11, with the least competing wifi traffic. Make sure you're viewing the traffic from within Inssider while seated at the place you primarily use your wifi devices. You don't want to sample wifi traffic next to your router unless that's...

ASUS RT-N66U Dark Knight Dual-Band Wireless-N900 Gigabit Router Reviewed

Firmware check is working. I just had it reflash 108. I kicked it off from my smartphone (Galaxy Nexus). It gives you no indication of what version is available and it prompts you to flash it even if your installed firmware is the same version of the available one but I'll take it. That is...

I was thinking in the General Wireless forum of snb. If you think it'll get more attention over there so be it. -Edit- I see that forum is for Tomato on Linksys devices. Are you sure the mods over there will keep it open?

though, would you or darksamus mind starting a "Tomato on rt-n66u" thread? It would be wise if this thread was limited to discussion by n66u owners running stock firmware. There's bound to be a bit of crossover but there is definitely a need for multiple threads.

If they can't reproduce the problem themselves it makes it difficult to acknowledge the problem.

    ASUS RT-N66U - my review

Doesn't it suck when reality trumps principle? Btw, I have no issue using the stock firmware. It is quite capable of meeting my needs, and I imagine many others, with aplomb. I understand it might not do everything it's advertised to (yet) but at least we have tomato as an alternative and...

Any idea where I can find release notes? Did the prior release show up initially as beta?

It's nice to see Asus is acknowledging these bug reports. Hopefully they're as responsive over the next few months.

    ASUS RT-N66U - my review

Why don't you guys take it to a new thread and actually provide some performance data to back up why you support the firmware you support? It's gotten beyond old. Take your argument elsewhere.

    Asus RT-N66U wired performance

Try a different port or possibly exchange your n66 for another. Given the lan port performance of the n56 I would be amazed if the n66 wasn't as good if not better in that regard. I haven't tried streaming on my 360 via the n66 but I haven't had anything less than spectacular performance for...

    ASUS RT-N66U - my review

My experience is in line with Greg's... I'm two full days in and my n66u has been rock solid. I also don't need any features above and beyond what the stock firmware gives me. I may give tomato a try for fun but it's a bit early to make claims like that don't you think?
