Need router that won't need to be reset every 2 days

While I appreciate the reply, this advice isn't very helpful. Is there some secret 'non-junk' brand only available online that I'm not aware of? We use the internet for browsing, streaming netflix/hulu/amazon, and I have a Plex media server running on the home PC. We aren't power users that...

Need router that won't need to be reset every 2 days

Ok, need to buy a new one today. D-Link DIR-655 or Asus RT-N56U?

Need router that won't need to be reset every 2 days

The mobile devices (iPhone, iPad, windows laptop) have no issue on other wifi networks. They work just fine after a reboot as well. Router is configured with personalized SSID, WPA-2/AES, auto channel, DDNS, 20/40 auto, DHCP enable and a reserved address for media server. There's only 2...

Need router that won't need to be reset every 2 days

Wow, didn't check the thread yesterday and wasn't expecting so many responses. We live in the SF Bay Area, so it never gets that cold in the garage. It's been in the 90s here the last few days and the garage has probably been mid-80s at the highest, so I don't think temperature should be a...

Need router that won't need to be reset every 2 days

Ok, after research, I'm considering one of the following: D-Link DIR-655 Linksys EA2700 (or 3500 or 4200 if one is more reliable) Belkin N750 (access point is a Belkin, if that matters) EnGenius ESR600H

Need router that won't need to be reset every 2 days

We just moved houses and had to buy another router (moved our old Belkin router to the other end of the house as an AP). Bought a TP-Link 1043ND router, worked great for first few days then needed to be reset every 2-3 days (could see wireless SSID, but could never connect. Also unable to...

    Help diagnosing a TL-WR1043ND issue

Also, my main concern at this point is reliability. I don't want to have to be resetting the router every other day. every other week is understandable, once a month is ideal... but every other day is just dumb. I also don't need USB ports - just a good, solid, reliable wireless-N router...

    Help diagnosing a TL-WR1043ND issue

Ok, had to unplug/reset it twice since posting yesterday. Maybe I have too many devices connected or something? -iMac (static IP since it runs as media server) -Roku -DirecTV DVR (wired connection) -HP Wireless printer -2 Windows laptops -Windows desktop (wired connection) -iPad -2...

    Help diagnosing a TL-WR1043ND issue

Thanks, Tipstir. I checked again this morning while trying to get the baby to sleep, and all of a sudden both phones were showing 18 down/8 up. I have no idea what changed. Neither of them were shut off/restarted/restored, router was running all night, same devices were still connected in the...

    Help diagnosing a TL-WR1043ND issue

Additionally, I have a wired access point (an old Belkin router) if that makes a difference. Speeds are the same regardless of whether I connect to the Belkin AP or the TP-Link though. Don't know if that makes any difference.

Yep just around 3 down, 8 up on the phones. iMac and Windows laptop both are in the high 20s down and 5-6 down. Doesn't matter how close I am with the phones, but the laptop gets a little slower as it gets to the edge of range. Comcast plan is 'up to' 20 down, 5 up with 'powerboost' for the...

    Help diagnosing a TL-WR1043ND issue

We have two iPhone 4S - one running iOS 6 and the other still on 5.1.1. Both show the same network speeds using speedtest.net app.

Do those only improve signal strength? I'm confident the slower speeds on the iPhones isn't a result of signal strength, since it's slow whether I'm 2 feet from the router or at the edge of the signal range.

    Help diagnosing a TL-WR1043ND issue

This one's version 1.8 Router settings are 11bgn, auto 20/40MHz, auto channel (not a lot of networks around us), 300Mbps max, WMM enabled (tried disabling this, made no difference), and WPA2-PSK (AES) security.

    Help diagnosing a TL-WR1043ND issue

Thanks everyone. Got a replacement and so far 2 days without a reboot needed. Hopefully this one lasts more than a couple of weeks. Now... to figure out why our iPhones are only getting 3 down/8 up when all of our computers are around 30/6... (On a 4S/5.1.1 and a 4S/6)

    Help diagnosing a TL-WR1043ND issue

Would it be the power supply if it still works after unplugging and plugging back in? When I try to connect to the wireless signal from the TP-Link it's like it hangs at some point - I never get an IP address or anything from the router. I haven't tried a wired connection when it geeks like this...

    Help diagnosing a TL-WR1043ND issue

Currently I have a TP-Link TL-WR1043ND in the garage acting as my 'main' wireless router, with a wired access point Belkin F6D4230 on the other side of the house. When I first set it up, everything worked flawlessly. Same SSID, same security, DCHP enabled only on the TP-Link with Belkin...

Need a router with enough range...

I see. I guess I was hoping for a way to mesh the two wireless signals together, but you're right in that no matter what the wireless routers I have the mobile devices may still try sending their data through the 'wrong' router. Another (simpler) question - since what I have now seems to be a...

Need a router with enough range...

So, isn't that basically what I have now? I have 2 SSIDs (1 from each router), even though it's technically the same network (since the router in the garage feeds the router in the office) right? I guess that paragraph I quoted doesn't seem like what I'm looking for - it sounds like what I...
