    Start with turning off UPNP and Beam forming. The beam forming messes with some adapters.

    I have seen signal bounce up and down as well as the speed fluctuate on the 2.4ghz. It never seems to settle down.

    The beam forming has issues its just not totally there yet. I had slowdowns and up and down speed turning that off cleared up the problems.

    One of the troubleshooting try this was turn off upnp to stop "reboots". So many of us turned it off trying to fix the issue. The upnp reboot seems like a soft reboot the log time is continuous. The other reboot was like a power off. My log would show Jan 31 until it picked up the correct...

    Lot of people did turn off the upnp so that should be something else that gets passed on to ASUS.

    With the reboots the uptime in the log goes back to zero that's where you are verifying the reboot? Factory reset did you restore a backup or do a clean setup? clean setup is better. The 4887 firmware had seemed to fix the issue for everyone. Maybe do a factory reset again?

    Try turning off beam forming it seems to give throughput that is all over the place on 2.4ghz at least. I turned it off and the throughput became stable.

    No reboot in 7 days and the slowdown on the 66u AP seemed to stop at 10 up 10 down. Which is better then it dropping to nothing.

    How do you load Merlin firmware? I loaded 2 times on my router still says the latest firmware version. Figured it would say merlins version number.

    Over 3 days up no reboot so that is great. I am starting to see a slowdown on my 66u AP on its upload side. Were getting 25 up and down on the 66u now its 15 up 23 down. The fix usually is a reboot of the 68u not the 66u will update over the next couple days. It usually will keep degrading...

    Thanks for that info I will get a copy of DD-WRT incase it happens again. BUT ASUS really should add it to their product.

    No you can plug it in a laptop and use it as a tethered modem. It just requires the correct driver to make it work. Additional note the HOTSPOTS usually only allow 5 connections which doesn't come close to the amount of devices I could use.
