I think that Merlin should work for ASUS, because his firmwares are better, than stock ASUS firmwares. But this new 3.0.0.4.374.4887 firmware, seems very stable at the moment!

LOL. Asus is way smarter, they let him fix the bugs for free and include features from rmerlin if they think it is cool.

It was a smart move to base asus firmware on tomato, because they can also grab some of their fixes and code.

I never believed that teddybear just stopped working on tomato. There is a great chance, that they employed teddybear to make the switch to tomato for asus and now they have a bunch of free workers.

And if asus actually paid to any of these free workers, then all issues would have been fixed a long time ago. So it was a bad move by Asus.

Although not with regard to the reboot issue. That had to wait for the new drivers with the patch from Broadcom, so there was nothing Asus could do to fix that issue before getting that new driver.

This reboot issue was complained about almost 2 months ago. This issue wasn't officially acknowledged....even in the fix log of the latest FW. ASUS word was they couldn't reproduce the issue 2 weeks ago. I'm sure it didn't take Broadcom over 2 months to spit out a driver so there was a breakdown in communications somewhere. ASUS needs to get on top of their game for what is a flagship router.

BTW Router uptime is now 5 days 5 hrs. Holding up very well.

Or they could have properly test it before releasing firmware with faulty drivers.

My 68U reboots every time I try to AirPrint with my Apple devices. Very annoying. My printer is WiFi and AirPrint capable Epson WorkForce 485 it's on the network and it reports proper WiFi settings. My computers can WiFi print but not iPhones or iPads. Funny thing is that if I use the Epson print App the printer prints fine. Firmware on the printer is up to date and router is 3.0.0.4.374_4561

I thing is a router firmware issue. Had this printer for two years and worked great with WiFi and AirPrint printing, using the Linsys E4200 V2.

Considering you are posting in a thread about FW version 374.4887, I would strongly recommend updating to this version. As already mentioned in this thread, the reboot issues should be addressed by this firmware version.

If you want to use a Merlin firmware that dont have the reboot issue use the 374_40 alpha4 version. Works fine no issues.

Eventually, once I see enough user feedback to confirm that this firmware doesn't break other things, and that I get the time to merge it. I'm no longer going to rush merging new GPLs as soon as they come out.

Agree i like the Merlin touch with his firmwares. The only thing that i like better with the new Asus bata firmware is the 5Ghz light dont blink on and off for no apparent reason.

I saw some code changes related to the 5 GHz led in 4887, that might be something they fixed.

The 5 GHz led is a special case. For some reason it's not directly wired to the chip's gpio, so Asus has to manually control its state from the firmware.

Aha, that's why it's behaving like that after I installed the Alpha 4 Firmware.

Over 13 hours of up time since the Alpha 4 Firmware install and no reboots. Other than the 5GHz light issue, the router is very stable, and AirPrint works great, no router rebooting when it's used.

Agree! Also had router reboot problems with 3.0.0.4.374.4561 firmware, when printing via wifi "brother" printer. Updated to beta firmware 3.0.0.4.374.4887 and problem was gone!

Maybe and I say "Maybe", since 374.4887 looks pretty stable, it deserves a RMerlin re-write, when it's not a Beta anymore?? I know you are on a sabbatical, but...!
