Asus RT-N66U stability and heat issues in access point mode

It is not bad at all. When using in AP-mode you don't have to deal with the listed security risks. I asked one day on this forum and got the reply: "don't worry when in AP-mode". I opened the unit and it as clean inside as it was out of the box. It got terribly hot; you can't have your fingers...

    RT-N66U in AP-mode : where to connect the router-ethernet cable ?

Hi, When using the RT-N66U in Access Point (AP) mode, do I have to connect the ethernet cable (coming from the router) to the WAN connector one of the LAN connectors? I checked all available manuals but couldn't find the answer.

Asus RT-N66U stability and heat issues in access point mode

I hope there is someone around here with a good memory ;). Since a couple of months I have replaced my RT-N66U by another one and given the "good old" N66U to my daughter. I installed the 66U as Access Point (firmware is Merlin's 3.0.0.4_270.26b; this old version is one of the best regarding...

    Cannot update RT-AC68U firmware

This "Japan only version" works wondefull in The Netherlands. The update from the previous one might only be for Japan issues, but when you come from a so old version, always take the latest, even if it has also updates for the Japanese market. I hope the intermediate version solves your...

    Cannot update RT-AC68U firmware

Reboot message from Asus: "After firmware updated, please press the reset button more than five seconds to reset the router to avoid some compatibility issues." And my advice: do not re-install settings by using back-up, but re-enter everything manually. And why not updating to the newest...

Asus dapter and router issues under Windows 10

The support website of Asus says the following: Windows 10 Plug and Play Support This client card (PCE-AC68) supports windows 10 plug and play. Do not need driver CD, driver is included in Windows 10. When the client card is inserted into a computer, Windows attempts to download and install...

    Replacement WIFI Antenna's

I have these antennas. When using on my old R66U I got an increase in range into my garden: the last 10 meters were still covered, not with the stock antenna's. When used on my new AC68U I noticed a degradation !!! So it looks like Russian roulette ;-) ;)

RT-AC68U (fw: 3.0.0.4.378_7369) Adaptive QoS - WAN/LAN Bandwidth Monitor problem

Download the latest firmware (see my signature) and upload this one in your AC68: maybe your problem will be solved. When I watch a movie I clearly see the monitor working.

    RT-AC68U ... Need some help!

Looks similar problem as mentioned here: http://www.snbforums.com/threads/rt-ac68u-often-crash.25477/ I use AC68U with Asus stock firmware and have no issues at all.

The original firmware version is printed on the label of the router.

[Fork] Asuswrt-Merlin 374.43 LTS releases (Archive)

I doubt it. Range for N66U has dramatically decreased since the 374 and newer firmware. I never used the Fork as I use the N66U in AP-mode (The Cisco modem-router from the provider acts as router). I would be very careful with your N66U .... .

    RT-AC3200 2.4GHz too new ?!

@Turbine , I would RMA the device and hope for a good one in return. Sony Z3 is very new and should work properly with the 3200 router. No discussion about that.
