I remember when I first got my AC68U before updating any firmware, there was 0 lag when accessing websites. Then I decided to upgrade to the latest which has AiProtection from Trend Micro and then there was a 2 sec to 3 sec lag before the sites start to load.

So I tried Merlin's firmware and reset to factory settings to make sure I get the best out of it but that didn't help.

Now I am on the Merlin Fork Update 12 but that lag is still there. Web browsing is not as snappy as it was when I first got my AC68U.

I am on a 50 MBPS down / 10 MBPS up connection and speedtest.net is fine, it shows I am getting the full speed but my issue with websites loading something funny is going on here.

ASUS' website doesn't have the old firmwares only the last 7 I don't even know what version was loaded on it when I first got it.

Can someone help me please?

The original firmware version is printed on the label of the router.

I am trying the Merlin Firmware 3.0.0.4_376.49_5 since it's also based on the 376 firmware to see if it's as snappy

A noob to AC routers, I own the AC56U, set it up months ago with stock firmware and haven't had ONE problem. I've configured the WAN for OpenDNS, have Comcast Blast tier Internet tier and typically get 30% higher speed than stated.. 5gHz band is VERY fast also though 2.4 gHz is weaker than it might be. I guess the point I'm making is I see no reason to change what's already working nicely with stock firmware.. My two pence, LOL

getting frequent disconnections with the latest fork and even the old Merlin. Gotta hunt again for the stock firmware, it worked best for me! damn updates

Installed Firmware 3.0.0.4.376.3626 from the ASUS site. Let`s hope this is more stable. Will report back
