ASUS firmware DHCP "Continuous Mode" potential fix for "ISP's DHCP did not function properly"

I forgot to comment on my situation until I just saw a notification... This was happening every couple of hours (or more often). Charter Spectrum was out at least 6 times total - and they finally swapped the modem out for an older model. This seems to have finally resolved my issue...

    ZenWifi LED light?...

I have now realized that this thread was in the AX series section (I have the AC CT8 version. Anyway, looking through the online manuals, there doesn't seem to be any mention of the LED on the front at ALL, let alone what the green color indicates. The only LED mentioned is the WAN LED, and I am...

    ZenWifi LED light?...

I take back my previous statement! Once I tried to browse away from this site, I was unable to get web pages to load. I power cycled the router and it was green for a while, but turned white after about 3-4 minutes. Weird.

    ZenWifi LED light?...

Just found this thread - mine is currently green right now, while the internet appears to be working fine. However, I am unable to connect to the router with the Asus Router app or via a web browser. So it appears to be working and online, but the LED may be indicating otherwise.

Why password required for AiProtection Alert Preference email?

OK - thanks for the responses. I haven't enabled any of the AiProtection features (other than the DNS filtering of the parental controls) on any of my previous Asus routers and just thought I would give it a try. My main interest was to supplement the browser and OS protections - especially...

Why password required for AiProtection Alert Preference email?

Checked all of that multiple times. Even this morning (10 hours later) still nothing.

Why password required for AiProtection Alert Preference email?

I did set the google account to allow less secure apps, so that shouldn't be the issue. I also looked through the general system log to see if there was any indication of a failure to send the emails, but saw nothing obvious in there either.

Why password required for AiProtection Alert Preference email?

I just set this up on my new CT-8 mesh system, turned off settings for safe browsing in Chrome, and the routers blocker appears to be working (as I get the counters in the router config pages), but I have yet to get any emails from the system yet (about 15 minutes later). I created a dedicated...

ASUS firmware DHCP "Continuous Mode" potential fix for "ISP's DHCP did not function properly"

after seeing that pingplotter isn't free, I am trying traceroute ng (free) and running a continuous check with google.com - I will see what that does.

ASUS firmware DHCP "Continuous Mode" potential fix for "ISP's DHCP did not function properly"

Grrr. Had another drop this morning and it came back again. By the time that I went upstairs to look at the modem, the lights were both blue, indicating it was online. I definitely think it is the router at this point, and not my internet service. This is a frustrating problem.

ASUS firmware DHCP "Continuous Mode" potential fix for "ISP's DHCP did not function properly"

I had charter spectrum out tonight. They replaced the line from a splitter to the modem because it had a very short "stinger" on each end (the center wire). Then they checked signals and all looked good. They also replaced a fitting on an unrelated line. I am hoping that was the root of the...

ASUS firmware DHCP "Continuous Mode" potential fix for "ISP's DHCP did not function properly"

That wouldn't surprise me with Spectrum - God forbid the customer can actually look at system logs to troubleshoot...

ASUS firmware DHCP "Continuous Mode" potential fix for "ISP's DHCP did not function properly"

this is the modem i have: https://d15yx0mnc9teae.cloudfront.net/sites/default/files/Spectrum%20D3_1%20eMTA%20QIG_manual.pdf I seem mention of accessing the interface at 192.168.100.1, but that doesn't work for me. Does the computer need to be connected to the modem directly (bypassing router)...

ASUS firmware DHCP "Continuous Mode" potential fix for "ISP's DHCP did not function properly"

Well, I am still having the occasional momentary drops - just had one a moment ago, but I don't think it was the modem restarting this time (but I wasn't in the same room. When I came to look at it, the modem was connected. I am about ready to try switching back to stock firmware at this...

ASUS firmware DHCP "Continuous Mode" potential fix for "ISP's DHCP did not function properly"

So far so good for me. I had one outage last night after making the changes, but I happened to be in the room, and I saw the modem appeared to reboot itself (maybe it got a firmware update?). So I can't blame that on the router.

ASUS firmware DHCP "Continuous Mode" potential fix for "ISP's DHCP did not function properly"

Well - quick update... The router did it again at exactly 1700 here again (2 hours after the last one this time). I went ahead and updated to 384.19, and I see that the "continuous" mode is an option for the DHCP Query Frequency is now available. I have now switched to this option to see if...

ASUS firmware DHCP "Continuous Mode" potential fix for "ISP's DHCP did not function properly"

Hey all, came across this thread when i searched for "WAN_Connection: ISP's DHCP did not function properly"... I have an AX58U running Merlin 384.18_0 (I know that .19 is available, but I am going to wait until tonight to upgrade it - see below. I also have another of the same router used as...

Thoughts on the RT-AC3100 vs RT-AX58U?

Hopefully my last update... I gave up on the AC3100, and returned it. Installed the AX58U, and so far it seems more stable than the AC3100

Thoughts on the RT-AC3100 vs RT-AX58U?

Ugh. I spoke too soon. My kid is complaining about freezes and drops now. I have reverted the AC68U to just be a repeater again to see if it is any more stable this way. I used to sort of enjoy making tweaks to the network, but now this is just getting frustrating. I might be better off...
