[Release] Asuswrt-Merlin 384.16 (and 384.13_6) are now available

Why are you guys so concerned about a Signature update? It's for Trend Micro's protection updates like you can say its an update for its malware/virus etc database and if you don't use AiProtection on your router you don't even need it.

    Happy birthday to us

One question I've always wanted to ask, what's the story behind "RMerlin" and "Merlin" name in the firmware? as we all know it's not your real name. Feel free to pass if it's something personal. [emoji16] And Happy Birthday!!!

[Beta] Asuswrt-Merlin 384.16 beta (and 384.13_5) are available

He's the lead coder of Asuswrt-Merlin project, so knowledge is a must thing to have specially when Asus's code is not commented and a complete mess lol.

[Beta] Asuswrt-Merlin 384.16 beta (and 384.13_5) are available

To segment IoT to their own networks, you need VLANs and that's one more thing Asus doesn't support (completely). It makes complete sense, you're asking for carrier-grade features on SOHO routers and that's not how things work because the features are all dependant on the hardware being used in...

[Beta] Asuswrt-Merlin 384.16 beta (and 384.13_5) are available

It's designed to handle only /24 network (maximum number of supported clients are 255-2) since they are for SOHO, not carrier grade routers.

[Beta] Asuswrt-Merlin 384.16 beta (and 384.13_5) are available

In case you still want to use Class A IP address scheme then you can simply change the subnet mask in LAN>LAN IP to make it /24 or less network. I'm using it that way since ages without any issues. P.S Some might ask here what's the point of using Class A address as Class C address, I do it...

OT - surviving pandemic from personal experience (no trolling, PLEASE)

ISP's are the backbone of internet infrastructure and they know the exact real-time situation of how much network load they can handle without sabotaging the system so only they can decide what's good for everyone, a customer doesn't have the necessary data for that. Furthermore, unfortunately...

As I said in the last line of my reply, everyone is entitled to his own opinions but at least I'm happy that those who have the power to make things right are already doing the right thing, that's exactly why we're seeing Youtube/Netflix lowering thier default bit rates to lessen the load and...

Downloading games or watching a movie/show is not equal to someone in a hospital who needs to use the internet to collaborate with other doctors in the world or someone in the house to do the banking transactions or pharmacies to do their tasks properly, or researchers to collaborate and share...

They do use Edge networks but even those have limited capacity and after certain threshold they'll pass the traffic over the network. So you either have to increase the load bearing capacity for these nodes or cap the traffic so they remain within the capacity threshold. That's exactly why...

ISP's should seriously consider capping PSN/Xbox game downloads and torrent traffic as well including streaming services to free up the load for essential services.

Yes, we're getting new information on a daily basis and we need long term study to properly learn about all the effects. Researchers do know that reinfection is an issue with the four seasonal coronaviruses that cause about 10 to 30% of common colds. These coronaviruses seem to be able to sicken...

Yeah it all depends on your immune system and I was talking about just a few days after initial recovery when your immune system was pretty tired with all the fighting and at that time a second infection is quite possible. Your immunity depends on your immune system and when that system is...
