Scroll down to DNS Behavior. Xentrk is one of the script developers here on SNB, I think the expert on using DNS with VPN so that scripts like Diversion work properly.Does anyone know how to get Diversion to work while also running a VPN client on the router?
Doing so requires changing the DNS 1 and 2 servers in LAN > DHCP Server which seems to make Diversion not apply anymore.
Just wanted to point out is any one else not able to access these pages
https://hosts-file.net/exp.txt
https://hosts-file.net/emd.txt
https://hosts-file.net/psh.txt
I get a 404 error.
just thought it was interesting because these are apart of the "skynet" diversion shared list.
Thanks, that should free up a little ram.
I'm not building in lists that no longer get updated in Diversion. Thanks, that should free up a little ram.
How well does this https://hostfiles.frogeye.fr/firstparty-trackers-hosts.txt list compare to the original adservers https://raw.githubusercontent.com/j...f10d98827c04a82b8f5/SeparateDomainList/7.list
for those interested in blocking those plus host list still
https://github.com/jumpsmm7/Generat...21d7e1cf10d98827c04a82b8f5/SeparateDomainList
it is
8.list generated from https://hosts-file.net/emd.txt
9.list generated from https://hosts-file.net/exp.txt
10.list generated from https://hosts-file.net/grm.txt
11.list generated from https://hosts-file.net/hjk.txt
12.list generated from https://hosts-file.net/mmt.txt
13.list generated from https://hosts-file.net/psh.txt
Thanks for that. Shame Youtube can't be blocked, though. It's possible with DNS filter. Set the global filter to go somewhere else upstream, like 9.9.9.9 and set each client on the network in the exceptions at the bottom. You'd be doing the opposite of what the FAQ says:
https://diversion.ch/faq-reader/how-to-exclude-a-client-from-ad-blocking.html
You cannot block YouTube ads with a DNS sinkhole:
https://diversion.ch/faq-reader/can-diversion-block-youtube-ads.html
Just the plus part is removed, the blocking list type can be changed at any time and did not affect the plus hosts that were added separately.Thx for the update @thelonelycoder
Just to be clear, back in the days my blocking list went from standard to custom (custom+) when I installed skynet. Since this has been discontinued, I can safely re-select a predefined list in Diversion?
No-one can with a router based ad-blocker.Thanks for that. Shame Youtube can't be blocked, though.
I wouldn't if I were you either.I'm not building in lists that no longer get updated in Diversion.
Just the plus part is removed, the blocking list type can be changed at any time and did not affect the plus hosts that were added separately.
No it did not. You customized the list. Selecting a predefined list sets the name of it.ok, but selecting a predefined list and having diversion installed next to skynet will still list the blocking list as 'custom' right?
Sorry, I'm just a little confused on the naming because I initially installed diversion with the 'standard' list, then it went to 'custom+' after installing skynet and now after the update it says 'custom'.
I'm not sure if it's supposed to be 'custom' or 'standard' now
You have other options in desktop browsers. But as for smart TVs/Chromecast and mobile, you are going to see YouTube Ads without a content blocker. Depending on what browser you use, there are some must-have desktop extensions. Thanks for that. Shame Youtube can't be blocked, though.
You're right sorry, it's been a while since it edited somethingNo it did not. You customized the list. Selecting a predefined list sets the name of it.
In which file / directory does Diversion store whitelist and blacklist entries?
Use dnsfilter. See https://diversion.ch/faq-reader/how-to-exclude-a-client-from-ad-blocking.htmlIs there a way disable diversion for a specific computer on the network? (aka one computer where traffic to/from would by-pass diversion)
Already on uBlock Origin - working great. Thanks for the HTTPS Everywhere suggestion.Chrome: HTTPS Everywhere, uBlock Origin, Location Guard, Nano Defender, uBlock Origin Extra
4images?? If so, legend. That whole thing got me started on the interwebz. Is there a way disable diversion for a specific computer on the network? (aka one computer where traffic to/from would by-pass diversion)
