    how to change "disk name"

It does work in my rt-ax88u with Merlin 384.16 b1 which I understand is based on GPL 384.7977 (or its binary blobs from it at least). I have 2 drives, one is ext2 and the other is ntfs. In both cases I can see the drive assigned name (not the label) under 'disk name'.

    RT-AX58U VPN Speeds?

While I think it is very good for all that the AX58 runs very stable, I can tell you that and at least in my case the AX88 has been *very* stable also, and has a few features that are lacking in the AX58: - Fast (hardware assisted) VPN. And this is very noticeable if you access your network...

Guest network for wired connection - how?

Well, some of those USB dongles are recognized natively in windows. For instance just plugged a realtek RTL8188SU USB dongle in my PC and win10 recognized it directly. So depending on the adapter and your operating system you will not need to install anything (almost like plugging a hard drive)...

[Beta] Asuswrt-Merlin 384.16 beta (and 384.13_5) are available

No spikes at all here and also using samba in my ax88.

    5Ghz stopped transmitting

Hi, definetly not a general issue. My AX88 has already passed the 36 hours mark with beta1 and so far so good (also did alpha2 for 5 days right before). Have you played with wireless scheduler for that band in the past ? could you recover the radio by restarting wifi only ?

Guest network for wired connection - how?

That is why I mentioned a USB wifi dongle (there are some for less than 10 dollars and require only an available USB port). But if all you have is an ethernet connector, then you can look for a cheap wifi repeater with one ethernet port and you plug to your computer through cable. There exist...

Guest network for wired connection - how?

If that is an option then why not connect wirelessly to a guest network ? if that PC does not have a wifi card, they are extremely cheap nowadays, or even using any cheap USB wifi dongle.... then you don't have to mess around with vlans and rules..

[Beta] Asuswrt-Merlin 384.16 beta (and 384.13_5) are available

Yes I know. In fact Merlin explained this behavior in the first post where he was describing how the new graphs work. My comment was in the line of stating that even if the limits were badly configured and as long as this 'autoscale' bahavior was mantained, the graphs would still work correctly...

[Beta] Asuswrt-Merlin 384.16 beta (and 384.13_5) are available

Now this is a reasonable point (not too intuitive). I do not see these values either in the main page (where the graphs are).. Related to 'working' or not, the autoscale 'security net' should be used anyways (the same as the 'speedometers' do when you supass the 100Mb line.. then they do...

ASUS RT-AC1200GU SAMBA slow transfer speed

Hi, the specs for routers you can find them searching in google for 'rotername wiki'. Re. The throughput figures I have are for my own experience with a RT-AX88 and a RT-AC3200 I had overclocked to 1.4Ghz (which could reach 55MB/s and was still much more powerful than the 1200).

[Beta] Asuswrt-Merlin 384.16 beta (and 384.13_5) are available

I fully agree with you in this part, but that was not the idea. I was thinking more in the line of exposing these two values in the tools page, so that when you enable QoS, QoS will use them. (and please forgive me if I seem like trying to force you to do one or another thing.. this are just...

[Beta] Asuswrt-Merlin 384.16 beta (and 384.13_5) are available

Sorry to disagree. Maybe I am seeing it wrong, but when I enter the QoS LAN/WAN Bandwidth you can clearly see logarithmic 'speedometers' in the upper part, as shown in the demoui also : http://demoui.asus.com/AdaptiveQoS_Bandwidth_Monitor.asp For instance, the first 20Mb/s take half of the...

ASUS RT-AC1200GU SAMBA slow transfer speed

That router has just 128MB and a 880Mhz processor and a single USB2 port. Too low specs for samba to run correctly on nowadays big disks. I definetly would go for a real NAS or change the router to a much more powerful one. For instance the RT-AX88U does reach 115MB/sec samba transfer speeds...

[Beta] Asuswrt-Merlin 384.16 beta (and 384.13_5) are available

Those are good suggestions.. moreover, I see that beta1 has supposedly the scale linked to the QoS settings as long as it is activated. I feel this should be also usable when QoS is NOT activated, just like the QoS monitor graph does. And like that one, if the max is not set, the graph should at...

[Beta] Asuswrt-Merlin 384.16 beta (and 384.13_5) are available

Thanks Merlin & team for another build. I just dirty flashed 384.16 beta1 on my RT-AX88U after 5 days running alpha2 with perfect stability for my network. Working fine for the moment. I will post some more feedback in some days from now.

    [Asus RT-AX88U] Experiences & Discussion

Verify that the upgrade has not messed up your control channel selection. While upgrading to one of the latest Merlin versions my control channel setting was changed to 'auto' and the router ended up using the same channel my access point was using.. which caused some degraded performance due to...

    [384.16_Alpha Builds] Testing all variants

It is a great idea to use the same setting as QoS, however, setting the max for the graphics only is already useful even if not using QoS, so please whenever you do this consider that it should work in this situation also.

    [384.16_Alpha Builds] Testing all variants

Hi. This is a very useful feature. Wouldn't it be a good improvement if the starting max point of 100KB/s could be altered with a NVRAM variable so that it reflects the user's connection max speed from the beginning and not start at 100kbs every time the page is reloaded ? Then later on this...

    [384.16_Alpha Builds] Testing all variants

Hi, I just dirty flashed alpha2 onto my RT-AX88U and so far so good. Everything working smooth. I only get once in a while during very fast USB samba local transfers : kernel: ERR: rdpa_cpu_tx_port_enet_lan#213: rdpa_cpu_tx_port_enet_lan failed. rdd_rc=120 tx_rdd_error_count=xxxx .. but : -...
