    RT-AX88U Hardware Revision A1 vs A1.1

I've been running with cpuwait turned on since last july in my RevA1 AX88 without issues caused by cpuwait. (I have been able to reproduce every issue I've had in this period without cpuwait also)

[Release] Asuswrt-Merlin 384.15 (and 384.13_4) are now available

Hi, just a short message to post success dirty upgrading my RT-AX88U to Merlin 384.15. Everything working wonderfully, now about to cross the 4 days power up with quite a bit of traffic already processed by the router. I was coming from a record 42 days powered up with 384.14 Final, and the new...

    RT-AX88U Hardware Revision A1 vs A1.1

No it does not survive reboots. I have it coded in my post-mount script right before entware is started.

Do you reboot often your router ?

I only reboot when there are problems or I need to upgrade firmware. My RT-AX88U does not have major unstabilities, only sometimes wifi (once every couple of weeks) starts to behave strangely and this is the unstability main reason to reboot.

    RT-AX88U Hardware Revision A1 vs A1.1

Correct. I have an A1 AX88 and had to re-enable CPU idle by means of the command 'pwr config --cpuwait on' and my router temps go down immediately to around 50C (from around 58C). Note that I am doing this since about last june, when ASUS decided to disable idle CPU support for those routers...

[Release] Asuswrt-Merlin 384.14 (and 384.13_2) are now available

Well, at first I would say that Merlin, based on the original firmware is *at least* as secure as the official, but it can in fact be configured to be much more secure, because it has more configuration flexibility and you can disable or use some features that potentially could imply security...

    Scripts on non-merlin firmware

At least in ASUSWRT 1-2 years back this could be easily automated by using the autorun script of the mounted USB drive where you want the swap file to reside by using the nvram variable USBMOUNT pointing to the script that activates swapping. Do a quick google for details.. it is fully...

kernel: FPM Pool 1: invalid token 0x21950000 freed

Great news, however 384.15 is based on 7756 firmware which has a bit of other problems, such as wifi becoming irresponsive or extremely slow... so be aware!

    Asus RT-AX88U Firmware 3.0.0.4.384_7968

We found a similar problem in Merlin 2-3 versions ago (WAN init taking too long.. in that case up to 20 minutes). Eric determined that it was a timing issue -was happening only in some scenarios where a VPN server was configured- and coded a patch for it.. so it could very well the same and now...

Which router to buy for openVPN usage? 92U or 86U or 56U?

I can support also this opinion, as long as you can afford the price difference. Note that the AX88U does have also more memory and cores, plus better connectivity (4 additional ethernet ports), so it will support better / longer heavy tasks that consume more resources (like more simultaneous...

[Release] Asuswrt-Merlin 384.14 (and 384.13_2) are now available

Thanks (and also to Max33Verstappen). All is clear now. However, I can not test further 7756 based fws given the wifi locks that could be observed in my environment for 2.4Ghz.. at least until there is a hope that these may be fixed... I'll stay then with 384.14 by the moment..

[Release] Asuswrt-Merlin 384.14 (and 384.13_2) are now available

Hi @Merlin, just noticed that you dropped a new 384.15 'alpha' code for RT-AX88U.. Care to comment on the contents ? what does it fix ? Can we help testing it ? what sdk is it based on ? Thanks

[Release] Asuswrt-Merlin 384.14 (and 384.13_2) are now available

Hi, the idea is to simplify your environment and do a full reset and re-add the configuration manually. This will get rid of all NVRAM wasted while trying things that you finally chose not to use and temporary and no longer used NVRAM values, such as device assignments names NVRAM space used for...

[Release] Asuswrt-Merlin 384.14 (and 384.13_2) are now available

Hi, I just dirty upgraded to 384.14 after some successful testing of beta1 and beta3 on my rt-ax88. I do not expect problems since beta3 was already identical code for this router as stated some posts above. In any case I also did test this past week the 7756 based build of beta3 that Eric...

HELP RT-AX88U no wifi signal after power cycle

In this case yes, the likelyhood that, even if it is a hardware issue it was bypassed in software is very slim (your new unit should have come with the new CFE installed, which given that it is 'A1' same as mine, looks very unlikely).

HELP RT-AX88U no wifi signal after power cycle

I was questioning because it could also be something 'fixed' by a hw fix (it is not the case if yours is still A1) or by a firmware patch in the bootloader.. by the way, latest firmware (7756) does update the bootloader (CFE) from v1.0.0.9 to 1.0.1.0. I just updated mine firmware to 7756...

Great to know this. By the way, is it hw rev. A1 or A1.1 and.. what firmware does it have ?

kernel: FPM Pool 1: invalid token 0x21950000 freed

Hi, anyone seeing this error with 7756 based firmwre ? (either the official one or Merlin 'new specially compliled' 384.14 beta3 that incorporates it). Just curious. I will most likely start testing it this afternoon ... I will post my findings here.

HELP RT-AX88U no wifi signal after power cycle

How did you test ? did you shut off the mains power to simulate a supply power off (the idea is to have the max amount of 'cable' connected) ? besides, I suspect you are looking at the 2.4Ghz availability (note that the 5Ghz radio may be off just looking for a radar free channel - this by...
