    Merlin 386.1 Beta 4 - AiMesh 2x AX86U, Node constantly disconnecting clients

No separate Tx power adjustment is available in AiMesh menu in TX RT-AX86U running Asuswrt. Only in Wireless - Professional. It might adjust both, though there is really no way to tell I guess, unless you enter node's WebUI.

    Merlin 386.1 Beta 4 - AiMesh 2x AX86U, Node constantly disconnecting clients

There is a separate 2.5GB port on the router.

    Merlin 386.1 Beta 4 - AiMesh 2x AX86U, Node constantly disconnecting clients

I'm by no means an expert here but did have similar issue with 2x RT-AX86U in hardwired mesh with node loosing 5Ghz clients. Did you try disabling "Ethernet Backhaul Mode" while in hardwired mesh connection and then rebooting both nodes? It's in Asuswrt it's in AiMesh - System Settings. It...

Two RT-AX86U in cable mesh, node refuses 5Ghz clients

Update: today node again started refusing 5Ghz clients. Reboot didn't help. I then recalled that before all this mess started I enabled I enabled Ethernet Backhaul in system settings. So I disabled it, rebooted the system and node started accepting 5Ghz clients. Roaming also functions normally...

Two RT-AX86U in cable mesh, node refuses 5Ghz clients

It looks like this issue happens to nodes only and not the host router, which I can assume rules out a hardware issue.

Two RT-AX86U in cable mesh, node refuses 5Ghz clients

RSSI values at node (15cm from node) are - 31dBm for (upper) node and - 63dBm for host router. I didn't look at logs as I can't understand the readings (not a pro :) I thought about roaming issue when this instance occurred first time. Roaming assistance was at default, - 70dBm. I tried...

Two RT-AX86U in cable mesh, node refuses 5Ghz clients

Unplugging node will definitely solve the issue as it's only the node that refuses 5Ghz connections. There is a concrete floor in between. One router downstairs can not cover farther rooms upstairs which is why I added a node. Do you think radio interferes between two routers? If yes is there...

Two RT-AX86U in cable mesh, node refuses 5Ghz clients

Thanks @L&LD , I looked through the thread but it's a little different issue. I don't have problems with disconnections or issues trying to add a node. My issue is that after a few days of operation node refuses any 5Ghz wireless clients at all while host router connects just fine.

Two RT-AX86U in cable mesh, node refuses 5Ghz clients

Distance is about 3m apart, main router downstairs node upstairs. Hardwired for mesh with direct cat7 LAN cable connection. Yes, I did hard reset the node and added it to mesh again, it works fine now. But again6, having this issue twice makes me very uncomfortable and I'd be really interested...

Two RT-AX86U in cable mesh, node refuses 5Ghz clients

I have two RT-AX86U in cable mesh running asuswrt 386. After purchase both were updated to latest firmware and hard reset before setup. Setup of the host router was done according to M&M recommendations by @L&LD Smart connect is off, I run two networks 2Ghz (IoT stuff) and 5Ghz. On 5Ghz DFS...

Router binging & Roaming block list

@L&LD I've actually noticed a bigger issue. My smartphone stopped roaming on 5gHz network and is stuck to main router. My roaming settings are standard, - 70dbm, but it wouldn't roam even if signal goes to - 86dbm. Rooter reboot didn't help. I've set both of my RT-AX86U acc to your...

Router binging & Roaming block list

So far binding does work as when I check console is always connected to the router it's bound to. I disabled roaming blacklist coz I found it kind of useless once binding is done. Does creating permanent additional SSIDs puts more work on the routers CPU and makes airspace more crowded?

Router binging & Roaming block list

What's the point if I can bind it to the router or node with one click?

Router binging & Roaming block list

Task: I want to make sure my Xbox console will stay connected wirelessly to the router and not the node and to stay that way, no roaming. Running latest Asuswrt on my 2x RT-AX86U mesh. Asus Android app allows to bind a wifi client to either router or node. WebGUI also have option to block...

AdGuard DNS through ASUS Router App

OP have probably already figured it out but for those having similar questions, adguard has all details on their website: https://adguard.com/en/adguard-dns/overview.html You can have family profile etc. I was using it configured on my older router manually, and while it's very effective I...

    Node vs main router

Do you really think it can offer better ping/latency? I have no issues with speed.

    System log I can't understand

I don't think mine is beta, it's Asuswrt 386. Good advise though.

    Node vs main router

@L&LD I hate it when WebUI says "not connected", even if it is :)

    Node vs main router

Thanks for pointing it out @L&LD but backhaul though LAN/WAN is plenty enough for my ISP 200/10 speed and no PC/USB transfers involved :)

    System log I can't understand

My RT-AX86U works fine but while checking system log I've seen ALOT of recurring events I can't understand. Here is the log, since I don't know what info might be sensitive I've changes numbers with XXX Jan 9 19:26:20 kernel: CONSOLE: XXXXXX.XXX Unexpected RX reason 22 {if=wl1 fc=0040 seq=65d0...
