    AC87U without service issue

Kernel crashed due to a kernel firmware bug, apparently in the mtd (memory technology device) driver code. There's enough info here for someone to debug, provided we have source for the relevant device driver. You can send the log to Asus via the Administration tab (labeled Feedback, I think...

    Working Link Aggregation Config RT-AC66U

If it worked on the 87, it'd probably have to be on ports 2 & 3 because of the hardware difference. I wouldn't hold my breath though. And yes, turning off hardware acceleration is likely to affect LAN to WAN speed, but sometimes slow and working is better than fast and broken. Sent from my...

Have to manually power down after rebooting?

Hi. My 3200 is same. After a few days or, if I'm lucky, weeks the router will stop functioning properly. Once that happens, very commonly a hard power cycle is required. I tried setting it to do auto reboot a little over a week ago; the problem frequency went to failing every single day, about...

How to access modem at 192.168.100.1

My Arris modem is accessible at 192.168.100.1 through the firewall, no configuration necessary. Along with the bound address in the 75.x.x.x range, router also gets a 192.168.100.x address. No muss, no fuss. Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk

    [Firmware Bugs] RT-AC3100 Firmware 3.0.0.4.380_858

One problem with QoS (and this has bit me on my 3200) is the time period over which the rates are determined. For example, my Xbox could send 5Mb over a period of 1 second, and everyone would agree that it is functioning at 5Mb/s transmit. But say it sends 5Mb in 0.5s, and 0Mb in next 0.5s...

    Powerline or Wireless Bridge

Personally, I've had better luck with wireless bridges. A good part of this is that my home has arc-fault circuit interrupters that effectively block the PowerLine communications. In a previous home built during the 90s, the PowerLine adapters were extremely reliable, which is not the case...

Asus AC68u - Blocked single website

Regarding TOR working, this means your ISP is likely blocking access to nba.tv. They cannot tell you are accessing nba.tv when you use TOR, so your requests go through.

Asus AC68u - Blocked single website

nba.tv is the portal for cable companies to stream from. If it's blocked, it's probably your ISP that's blocking it, not your router. I don't believe pings from the router itself are ever blocked by the router. When you try to get to it in the browser, what do you see? 404 page? Sent from my...

    [Firmware Bugs] RT-AC3100 Firmware 3.0.0.4.380_858

Did you manually reboot after setting QoS but before enabling LAN Boost? It's possible that there's an issue with when the values get set in the router rather than dependence on LAN Boost. In general, when I tweak QoS on any router, I reboot before testing. That will ensure me that my settings...

    Caps on data per client

Are you wanting data caps? Or perhaps you mean you'd like to restrict their max data rate? From your example (teens with HD Youtube), it sounds like you want to use the bandwidth limiter to stop them from hogging your 300Gbps, not calculate how much data they've transferred and cap it after...

    Adding an AP to RT-AC3200

Reduce the DHCP address range (e.g. 1-100 vs 1-253) and manually assign the address of the access point outside that range instead of assigning a static value in dhcp. When the router is under load (not necessarily heavy) some bug or design decision makes DHCP server super laggy. As a result...

    Per ip rate limit

100 users is too many for the cpu on an AC68, especially if you use advanced features like QoS. That said, you might be able to eek out something provided the desired bandwidth is low and a bit laggy. Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk

    RT-AC88U

Sounds about right regarding the 87u. I pull mine out every few months to see if it's still bad. Fortunately, the bulk of the issues follow Quantenna, not Asus. Don't get me wrong, Asus isn't perfect, they're just the least problematic overall.

Will A New AC Router Bring You Wi-Fi Joy?

@thiggins $495 for the RT-AC5300? I've already got sticker shock at $399. Is this Canadian pricing? Or maybe you're just reporting the "going rate" thanks to all the techno-scalpers that have invaded the game for this router on Amazon? Regarding the lower/higher bands, it seems that my cell...

My .9313-base RT-AC3200 does indeed update the signatures automatically. I've been watching it.

    RT-AC88U

I had this same problem on my RT-AC3200. If you did not power-cycle your modem, try that first. If you did, unplug your modem and router power both for 15 minutes and retry. If this still doesn't work, factory reset and manually reconfigure your RT-AC88U (I'm assuming you went from shipped 378*...

RT-AC68U - how to extend wifi reach to other rooms

Another option is to use a Range Extender like Netgear wn3500rp, which I've had good luck with. You can use that to connect to your main router with its 5GHz radio, and cable it to your 2nd router in AP mode. In my house this works better than a PowerLine adapter for both speed and signal...
