RT-AC87U WPS light in Stealth mode

I have almost got it working now but wondered... does the pair of ledson/ledsoff scripts from the Scheduled LED Control wiki work with the AC87U? I can see the on and off jobs in the cru list. I can see messages at the correct time in the log to say that the script is called. I have set the...

Help Plz: Asus RT-N66U Dark Night [Stuck in rescue mode]

When you do the reset/power on/wait/release, does the power light go into the slow blink that indicates Firmware Recovery or is it still fast blinking? As I found out myself a week or so ago, the web-based ASUS firmware recovery tool can take a good 10-15 minutes to complete. Out of...

RT-AC87U WPS light in Stealth mode

The step I don't understand in the wiki is how to get the contents of the services-start script to execute on reboot. I assume it is a .sh file? I assume it is to be made executable. Is it called automatically if present in jffs/scripts or do I have to do something to get it to run?

RT-AC87U WPS light in Stealth mode

Thanks for the tips so far. I have got WinSCP up and running and am in the jffs/scripts folder. I have moved a fix_leds.sh in there containing the following... #!/bin/sh service restart_leds I have set it to executable for the owner but not sure if I need to set executable for group...

RT-AC87U WPS light in Stealth mode

Thanks for the suggestion but I have ipv6 off and the LED still comes on after a few hours or so. I would like to get to the bottom of this and see why the WPS light is illuminating and it would be nice to get a confirmation of the operating temperatures too.

RT-AC87U WPS light in Stealth mode

I have just flashed my new AC87U to 376.48_1 and have noticed that, despite selecting Stealth mode, the WPS LED comes on after a few hours. Wireless - WPS - Enable WPS - Off Tools - Other Settings - Stealth Mode - On When I turn Stealth Mode on then off, the WPS led goes off but a few...

    Have I bricked my RT-N66U?

You were quite right - the Firmware Recovery tool did take a lot longer than the Web UI. After giving it a good few extra minutes, the router rebooted and I was able to get back into the Web UI, restore to Merlin 376.48_1 and adjust the settings. Phew!

    Have I bricked my RT-N66U?

It doesn't accept any firmware now. I have tried 376.47 again as well as the current ASUS firmware. None are applied when the Upload button is clicked.

[Solved] Have I bricked my RT-N66U? I have been using my RT-N66U for several years and last night tried to update from 376.47 to 376.48_1 and cannot complete the firmware update. The router is stuck in Recovery mode. Here are the steps I have tried... 1. 30-30-30 reset. Router puts power...

    Daylight Savings Time

Remember to check the settings each year in case there are four or five Sundays in the relevant months that year.

    Daylight Savings Time

Even picking a very specific NTP server (uk.pool.ntp.org) doesn't prompt the router to change its time setting. If you point the router to an NTP server in your timezone I would think that taking its time from that server would be the expected behaviour.

    iOS Wifi Speed Problems

One thing I would do immediately is tell the iOS devices to Forget this Network then re-select it and key in your wifi password again. For your dual-band devices, see what performance you get in just the 5Ghz band. Don't sign them on to the 2.4GHz band unless your 5GHz signal is poor at...

My Asus RT-N66U crashed upgrading to 3.0.0.4.374.32. Urgent Help Please

Your router's normal address is 192.166.1.1 and if you type that into your browser, you should be able to see the N66U web page and have another go at flashing the modem. I can only speak for OS X users but I would go to the Network preferences, set DHCP Manually, choose 192.168.1.2 as the IP...

    Asuswrt-Merlin 3.0.0.4.374.33 Beta 3 available

I would like to report that 33_b3 is working perfectly for me with no significant drop in wireless strength and no installation issues. Although I live in an urban area that is highly congested in the 2.4GHz band, I am practically alone in the 5GHz at the moment so all my main devices are in...

    Timeline Merlin build rt-ac68u

Merlin - have you considered a Donation Drive to get money for the "Help Merlin Buy New Kit" fund to ensure you get an early one for development or is it a given that you are going to buy one anyway?

    Asuswrt-Merlin 3.0.0.4.374.33 Beta 1 available

I have had absolutely no issues whatsoever coming to the 374.33 beta 1 from the 374.32 release. While my setup is very straightforward - one wired device and four wireless with nothing fancy, the wifi signal in both 2.4 and 5GHz is rock solid in a very busy urban area. I subscribe to a...

    RT-N66U LEDs and Stealth Mode

Thanks for the explanation - I wondered how VM did it with the SuperHub2. I did my usual trick of putting a strip of masking tape on a plastic bag, colouring it black with a large marker pen, letting it dry then guillotining a thin strip off with my paper trimmer. I can then position one end...
