Once it hits the market how long will we have to wait for Merlin Magic?

That will depend on how long until 1) I can get one, and 2) I can get it working.

So right now, it's simply impossible to tell.

Merlin - have you considered a Donation Drive to get money for the "Help Merlin Buy New Kit" fund to ensure you get an early one for development or is it a given that you are going to buy one anyway?

FWIW: Currently avail for preorder with Release Date: 10/09/2013 over at Newegg for $219...

Has anyone been able to locate a better price?

Need to get a faster wireless router soon in order to take advantage of the cheap gigabit announced this week for my FTTH Utopia service!;)

It's not a matter of money (I have received enough donations over the months to cover buying one if I have to), it's strictly a matter of availability.

Well it's at least showing up over atNCIX, on back order though.

NCIX Canada is pretty bad for that kind of thing. They showed the RT-AC56U about a month before it actually shipped - and the price was completely wrong too.

I wouldn't believe any date or pricing on their site until the product really ships, which should occur in October (provided suppliers are able to provide them enough stock).

ASUS just got a new competitor to AC68U - mysterious NETGEAR Nighthawk AC1900 Dual Band WiFi Gigabit Router (R7000) :

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833122581

eatures
AC1900 (600 Mbps @ 2.4GHz with 256 bit QAM support + 1300 Mbps @ 5GHz 11ac)

Simultaneous Dual Band WiFi - Tx/Rx 3x3 (2.4GHz) + 3x3 (5GHz)

Beamforming+ - For more reliable connections

Powerful dual core 1GHz processor (ASUS seems to downclock its router to 800MHz)

You can order this router from Newegg today (provided that you live in US), but there is NO INFO about this router on Netgear site...
