Can I see WPA3 clients from router? (AX88U)

I solved my encryption problem like this. Main network with "trusted" only WPA3 devices and wired. Then a always on guest network for WPA2 devices (in my case only access to internet and not local network). Connect to main network if possible. Then it's WPA3 capable. If not use the "retro" guest...

    [384.16_Alpha Builds] Testing all variants

I also get "kernel: CFG80211-ERROR) wl_cfg80211_sta_info : GET STA INFO failed, -21" and "kernel: CFG80211-ERROR) wl_cfg80211_change_station : WLC_SCB_AUTHORIZE sta_flags_mask not set". AX88U by it self. I have to select channel manually to get my configuration up to maximum speed to clients...

    [384.16_Alpha Builds] Testing all variants

No since the device cant even use a cable ;-) That was what made it a bit extra surprising. The only thing I could think of was Virtualbox...but since nothing was running or even setup in it..

    [384.16_Alpha Builds] Testing all variants

On it now on AX88U. Reverted to orginal settings. Still lower than normal negated speed on my wifi. Need to manually select channel to get full speed. Saw some stuff in the logs that I haven't noticed before... Will take some more look in there after some sleep. RT-AX88U - just one of the...

    [384.16_Alpha Builds] Testing all variants

I came home and my wifi connection speed was normal with the channels manually selected instead of auto. If some info about my configuration is needed to solve this issue let me know, but I guess it has been replicated already. RT-AX88U - just one of the latest Merlin firmwares and nothing else -

    [384.16_Alpha Builds] Testing all variants

The device had a never used Virtualbox installed... So I though it could interfere with the extra drivers and stuff. Removed it and rebooted. Still the same result. It only used wifi to connect and don't even have a ethernet port. Only after router reboot it reported IP as it should. RT-AX88U...

    [384.16_Alpha Builds] Testing all variants

I've never seen this before... But what could create such a strange behavior? 2 connected clients from the same device and IP 169.* is reported... And still the device wifi connection works and reports correct IP while I remote control it. Edit: seems like a reboot of the router fixed this...

    [384.16_Alpha Builds] Testing all variants

Remember Wireless mode was buggy too in auto mode in the early firmware versions. I'll try manual channels when I come home... Right now the connected devices I can see suck speed wise by design so hard to tell if it made a differance yet [emoji6] RT-AX88U - just one of the latest Merlin...

A couple of clarifying questions before I take down my network ...

Personally I've made a guest network for "retro" devices with only internet access. Only WPA3 devices and cable connected devices has access to local network. "Need"... Wanting the best available is normal if you ask me [emoji6] RT-AX88U - just one of the latest Merlin firmwares and nothing else -

A couple of clarifying questions before I take down my network ...

What device is it that's has WPA3? You mention 66U and 68U but the device with WPA3? RT-AX88U - just one of the latest Merlin firmwares and nothing else -

    [384.16_Alpha Builds] Testing all variants

Never happens for me either. Only noticable thing I have is the reduced wifi speed on both phones. I haven't checked if the speed goes up if I use separated ssids instead of Smart Connect. Default speed is at 192 for my OnePlus 7 Pro while Samsung S10+ is slightly higher. At the stable firmware...

Not Directly Related, Which AX Router Would (Do) You Have for Use w/Merlin

AX88U is awesome. Basically all stable versions has been great for me. Just some minor issues with the alpha... But it's alpha so [emoji12] But last time I used stock with my configuration it behaved basically the same with speed over wifi. So the worst thing Merlin does here is to behave like...

ASUS router Android app taken down?

Probably a false alarm/conflict and they need to correct the reason of why it was removed RT-AX88U - just one of the latest firmwares and nothing else -

A couple of clarifying questions before I take down my network ...

I would suggest reading on what the official software supports. If that gets it Merlin firmware will surely get it too after it has been merged. https://www.asus.com/Networking/RTAC68U/HelpDesk_BIOS/ Even AX88U took a long time to get WPA3. Sent from my GM1913 using Tapatalk

I use OpenVPN with no apperant issue. I only use it on my phone though and autoconnect with VPN Client Pro on wifi connections that is not on my whitelist. (AX88U) Sent from my GM1913 using Tapatalk

    [384.16_Alpha Builds] Testing all variants

Maybe this can make some sense into the speed issues on wifi on AX88U. Adding some extra rows just to show when the error comes in a better way. "Mar 7 17:42:37 WLCEVENTD: Assoc ¥¥¥¥¥¥ Mar 7 17:42:37 hostapd: eth7: STA ¥¥¥¥¥¥ IEEE 802.11: associated Mar 7 17:42:37 kernel: CFG80211-ERROR)...

    [384.16_Alpha Builds] Testing all variants

Yeah, beyond 866 on wifes S10+ too (seen peaks above 900). But with the second build of the alpha for AX88U the speeds are different on both her and my device. Havn't tried the first alpha build.

    [384.16_Alpha Builds] Testing all variants

Flashed the newest alpha on my RT-AX88U. Had to reboot to get internet access (no biggy). So far all good otherwise except one thing. My Oneplus 7 Pro fell from 866Mbps to 192Mbps Tr/Rx speeds. (last time I tried stock I thing I got similar speeds too, but Merlin always has given me 866Mbps)...

    [384.16_Alpha Builds] Testing all variants

If I recall it correctly I waited to buy my router until Merlin firmware was out or at least on the way. It was buggy and had some issues back then though. Had to go back to original for some time (painful I know) but I always come back :) My guess would be that many "mainstream"/"normal"...

[Release] Asuswrt-Merlin 384.15 (and 384.13_4) are now available

Maybe it works for me due to having support for DoH enabled in browser. Seems based on what I read some time back that DoH is easier to implement and has better compatibility. Don't remember it well though. Then there is the security level of it DoT vs DoH. In some articles there does not seem...
