    Hey Voxel what NG firmware is the baseline for this one? it looks like netgear's latest verson is 1.0.2.82, and was released on March 26. but I know you have said they are sometimes a few releases back on their open source downloads.

    You know, I don't think I would see an article like this anywhere else. Thanks for taking the time to set it up Tim! Admittedly, my take-homes from this are simple 1) aggregate throughput is way less than the number on the box and 2) about 1.5gbps is the current max for 5ghz.

    Voxel R7800 Cake on Voxel latest build

    yeah I think that's all you can get with voxel, it's the default qualcomm streamboost. if you want cake you can install openwrt. I eventually went back to netgear/voxel becuase openwrt couldn't do all the hardware offloads and had trouble keeping up with gigabit cable modem sometimes.

    dumb thoughts. 1) are you sure you're getting 100Mbps or 100MBps? 112megaBYTES per second is around the max you'll get on gigabit ethernet. Windows copy command shows speed in bytes. 2) could the NAS be connecting at only 100mbps ethernet? (bad cable?)

    guest network is the easiest way to go. this wouldn't help if you plugged it in with ethernet. then you'd need a VLAN... I DO see some options on my netgear r7800 under Advanced -> Advanced Setup -> VLAN bridge settings, but I've never used them.
