    Setting up two wireless routers

have you narrowed it down to a small handful of problem devices? maybe its a poorly behaved client(s) causing problems. you have an ac3200... tri-band right? does it have like a smart connect feature to try to steer clients between bands? turn it of and assign manually. how your "basics"...

    Setting up two wireless routers

if you have a lot of 2.4ghz devices, but they're not actively in use at that moment, I'm skeptical that that is the problem. I'm not an asus expert but there may be some settings you can tweak for enhanced stability. Like narrowing your bandwidth to only 20mhz instead of 40mhz. Or disabling...

    Phicomm K3C AC1900 MU-MIMO Gigabit Router Reviewed

I think I tried setting it up with the subnet as you described... but it still seemed to have the same fundamental problem: rebooting causes the dhcp server to kick into play, and that just doesn't work. I've bit the bullet and done a router flip flop and make the K3C my primary router again...

    USB Wireless adapter?

I bought this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0757KX85X/?tag=snbforums-20 It's actually kind of flakey and sometimes 5ghz performance is worse than 2.4ghz. But it was really cheap.

    Wi-Fi Roaming Secrets Revealed - Part 3

anecdotally the behavior of the Galaxy Tab A seems to match the roaming experience of my Galaxy S8... it just doesn't like to roam until connection is nearly or completely lost. There are a variety of android apps that try to "fix" this behavior by specifying an RSSI level to trigger roaming to...

    What to pair with R7800?

What kind of speeds do you get now? what are the other clients you have in this office? And what kind of wifi adapter do they have (PS4 is, what, 2x2 802.11n?) If all your wifi clients are 2x2, then you don't need a blazing fast unit on the client facing side (something like an orbi approach...

    Phicomm K3C AC1900 MU-MIMO Gigabit Router Reviewed

can you spoonfeed more what you changed, and where, to get the K3C on the /30 subnet? And most importantly, when it's set up like that, can hosts see each other at the layer 2 level? (print and file sharing mainly)? oh yeah and what was the chinese gear chatting on your network?

    Question about 5 GHz speed

you're going to be limited by the speed of your old Galaxy S3. It depends on how many radios it has (probably only 1). If my guess is right then that means it's an "N150"equivalent, so I wouldn't expect more than 75bps possible theoretical speed. If it helps, I've got an old Galaxy Tab 3...

has anyone used the USB storage much? When I attach a external laptop hard drive (that draws 1 amp from the USB port), it craps out on a transfer after about 2 seconds. If I attach a USB thumb drive it works okay. Unfortunately I dont' have a powered USB HDD enclosure to test with. i'm...

Sponsored: A Better Way To Mesh

I groaned a bit when I saw the sides offering "5300mbps" speeds. Who writes the CC articles anyway? (Not asking rhetorically, just really wondering who writes them).

Upgrading from RT-N66U to AC, need VPN Hardware Accel+Encryption

can you try it without the VPN for a bit just to see how that is?

    Phicomm K3C AC1900 MU-MIMO Gigabit Router Reviewed

Alas, I don't have time for gamin' lately. Double natting is, (i'm pretty sure?) preventing me from doing two things: 1) printing to downstairs printer from upstairs 2) using a computer downstairs as a file share for upstairs. So i'm not calling it optimal. I may try re-switching the K3C so...

    Phicomm K3C AC1900 MU-MIMO Gigabit Router Reviewed

thanks Lattice, to be clearn, captainstx seems to be describing a double NAT setup. Are you using double NAT, or is everything on the same lan segment? And are these SNB articles you refer to...

Lattice, can you go into more detail on how you set it up as an AP? (which ethernet connections, which ip addresses, etc) Because when I set it up, man, it just didn't work well when I tried to use it an an AP behind my DDWRT router. Can you especially describe the DHCP setup you have? That...

    Wi-Fi Roaming Secrets Revealed

Impressive article. I don't think I fully grasp what I should be grasping, but impressive. Dumb tangential question: should the 802.11 k,v,r tweaks be interopable between vendors? (i.e. a true standard). In other words, if you had orbis and velops intermingled, should those features still...

Wireless repeater bridge with Merlin and DD-WRT

if your new AP is connecting wirelessly, then the security settings will need to match what your main router is putting out. So go ahead and try for WPA2-AES. In my brief use of a WNR2000 with DDWRT it worked fine.

Wireless repeater bridge with Merlin and DD-WRT

when I've used DDWRT to set up a client bridge or repeater bridge, pretty much nothing needs to be done on the main router. It doesn't really care what the bridge is doing.

Am I wasting my money buying the Asus Raptor AC5300 with only getting 20mb internet?

overkill it sounds like you dont have a lot of intra lan traffic. you might not be able to get signal to all points in the house in which case you may need multiple routers or access points. but not particularly fast ones.

    Phicomm K3C AC1900 MU-MIMO Gigabit Router Reviewed

Correction, can't be used as an AP at all. At least not in my house. But it would be interesting to determine the real clock speed of this chip more authoritatively. After all, the Asus Blue cave firmware reports three cores, which is probably wrong.

Suggestions for running Cat5e/Cat6 to rooms in a new house

If it's the sort of situation where you're not going to want to have to go back and mess with wires in the walls in 8 years, then i'd recommend cat6a. That's the rating that can support 10gbps over its full length.
