    Asuswrt-Merlin 380.59 is now available

They're all alpha only, and the router is stable on .58.

    Asuswrt-Merlin 380.59 is now available

Nope. Same SSID'S for 15 years.

    Asuswrt-Merlin 380.59 is now available

All versions prior to 57 were stable. Full resets at every flash.

    Asuswrt-Merlin 380.59 is now available

I spent quite a bit of time tonight with my ac87u working between 57, 58, and 59. There is something common between 57 and 59 that absolutely makes my 87u go completely nuts. By "nuts" I mean: 1) WAN port going dead 3-4 times per MINUTE (red WAN led on the 87u) 2) Wireless clients dropping and...

    Development musings

20 years of tier 1 app development (you've used what I work on). It's not the developers, it's customer demands. More features more features more features.

    Asuswrt-Merlin 380.59 is now available

Same thing on my 87u which was rock solid on 58.

    Asuswrt-Merlin 380.59 is now available

I'm falling back to .58. .58 was perfectly stable on my 87u, but .59 is a disaster of constant disconnects and about 5 reboots per day. (complete factory resets done, as always).

    Asuswrt-Merlin 380.59 is now available

Sadly, for me, my AC87u is back to having stability problems that existed before .58. My two 68u's, so far, are fine, but the AC87U reboots about every other hour. Factory reset after upgrade as always.

    Weird Wireless disconnection behavior

So true. Try switching to something like a 286 from 1989. It'll be a far superior and more reliable experience than crApple stuff.

Beamforming enable or disable ASUS AC87U router

The answer is, it depends on each of your individual clients. I made a thread a while back based on my 70 or so devices.

    Trend Micro

It redirects all your traffic to a proxy in Japan as well. I also found that when it was enabled, my AC87u crashed 3-4 times per day. Disabled all of it, and the router is rock solid.

    Asuswrt-Merlin 380.58 is now available

I have about 74 devices but no issues like that, but have no attached drives.

    Asuswrt-Merlin 380.58 is now available

Running fine on 3 AC's 68's in AP mode, and my AC87.

    Beamforming

So I got curious and decided to do some testing on this tonight. I have 70 or so devices that are regularly online throughout a 4400 square foot house. I decided to just really test beamforming on the 2.4ghz band, as I only have about 10 5ghz devices. First I set beamforming on (both...

    Beamforming

I think the general consensus is- try and find out on all accounts. It completely varies by device chipset of the client.

[Test builds] 380.58 alpha builds are now available

Both bands. The vast majority of devices are on the 2.4 side.

[Test builds] 380.58 alpha builds are now available

The only devices constantly send/rec are 6 720p security cameras and the NAS they write to. Most devices send very little data. The kids devices and game consoles when active, but I don't see high cpu usage before the crashes. It's just as if the router flakes out and randomly reboots.

[Test builds] 380.58 alpha builds are now available

As I said, the error that precedes the crash varies greatly. Also, I have my Synology NAS as a syslog server, and it reflects the same information as the System Log in the router. For instance, today, I have 0 days 19 hours 5 minute(s) 2 seconds of uptime. It may go for several days, and then...

[Test builds] 380.58 alpha builds are now available

My AC 87u has also been doing this for several versions 380.57 onward. The log for me looks like this: Mar 9 17:27:40 miniupnpd[1319]: upnp_event_recv: recv(): Connection reset by peer Jul 31 19:00:11 syslogd started: BusyBox v1.20.2 The event before the crash varies, and is hardly ever the...

Used ram is good. Don't sweat it unless it gets to 95% or above.
