Beamforming enable or disable ASUS AC87U router

Hi,

i was wondering if i should enable Explicit beamforming and Universal Beamforming. I see on a lot of forums they say turn it off if u have iPhone and iPad devices.

If i turn it on will it improve my wireless connection? and wil my iphone and ipad work correctly?

You can check by enabling and test. Then disabling, and test.

The answer is, it depends on each of your individual clients.

I made a thread a while back based on my 70 or so devices.

On latest official firmware is ON by default... I have no problem here.
On older versions there were issues with Apple devices.

I have good results with both (802.11ac Beamforming / Explicit beamforming & Universal Beamforming) enabled on my AC87U - on Firmware Merlin 380.57 (based on Asus GPL 380_1031).

But with the previous model (AC68U) - on older firmware - I had some issues with my Android devices (especially with the Google Nexus 5 smartphone).

It looks like it's based on firmware versions and device compatibility if you should enable or disable it - finally you need to test it yourself!
