    Firewalla Gold Plus Suitability

That's one way to look at it. It is a nice hardware package. I think there is a dongle to authorize the cloud management. Backing up the entire system for potential restore makes sense. Then, if it did not perform well, I can install others. If it does nothing lost but the time to roll my...

    Firewalla Gold Plus Suitability

Likewise. I asked a straightforward question. You gave nothing that would be an answer. Opinion I guess, but thanks just the same, I'll decide what I want to do. If you have any facts that pertain, please do

    Firewalla Gold Plus Suitability

Thanks, but doesn't answer the question.

    Why?

    Firewalla Gold Plus Suitability

I have an opportunity to buy a Gold Plus for 75% off through a friend. I'm wondering if I should. I like the features, think the data offered on network use would be a nice thing. If I do this, I'll have to swap it in as router. I have a well functioning network so I don't want to find that this...

    RT AX86U Gaming Port

I cant wait for AI QoS. I'm sure some marketing department is working furiously right now.

Tracking down device still using router DNS

I get a few router entries in my piholes from time to time. It happens when the router forces something that isn't using a 'normal' DNS call to the piholes. Best I can come up with at any rate. Odd that your Netflix TV app is giving you trouble. My Google TV (Sony TV) setup has Netflix and it...

    RT AX86U Gaming Port

Oh boy, you amateurs. Everyone knows that you run RGB control software on your PC and MUST get the router LEDs to slowly do a rainbow if you want the best latency and ping rates. It goes without saying that you also use special cables between the gaming machine and the router. I'd recommend...

    AX86U or Pro

Here's a good comparison of the three. Part way down the page there is a table. https://dongknows.com/asus-rt-ax86s-vs-rt-ax86u-vs-rt-ax86u-pro/

    AX86U or Pro

Wonder how a blanket would affect the radios on a GT-AX6000? No way the fugly thing is going to be on display.

[TESTING] File transfers (Samba/FTP/NFS) from USB drive to client intermittently fail

Well, I'm not sure of marketing. You have to dig into specs to find mention of USB abilities for the AX86 series. https://www.asus.com/networking-iot-servers/wifi-routers/asus-gaming-routers/rt-ax86u/ It's an afterthought, if it works cool. If it doesn't, move along.

[TESTING] File transfers (Samba/FTP/NFS) from USB drive to client intermittently fail

You know, I understand that some bought a router based partly upon 'Hey I can use it for file share too!' Way back, I thought the same. Took less than a week to decide to buy my first actual NAS. Personally, I use Synology and have moved up their foodchain 3 times in ~10 years. If you want to...

    Firewalla Gold

I've tried several approaches over the years. All have failed for one reason or another, so back to Asus with Merlin. I have simple needs as I lead a boring life. Static IPs from DHCP Redirecting DNS to my two pihole 3 port forwards, both IPv4 and IPv6 to handle a server I run at home. Seems...

New Years Eve, really? :) So, what do you recommend, and what do you use?

    AX86S and 388.1 final-388.2 Alpha builds

Since reference was made to other models, just a data point that all models do not exhibit the behavior.

    AX86S and 388.1 final-388.2 Alpha builds

No idea about memory issues. This is running since the alpha was released pretty much. I don't use any scripts nor VPN.

    [ 388.2 alpha Build(s) ] Testing available build(s)

Plain vanilla with static IPs assigned, DNS director enabled for 6 devices, Google DDNS, IPv4 and V6 port forwards. All running well with alpha 1.

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 388.1 is now available for all supported Wifi 6 models

Sometime, a null change can work the same. I do that occasionally before resorting to a wipe reconfig.

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 388.1 is now available for all supported Wifi 6 models

On my ASUS routers starting with the illustrious N66U, I have always set channels to manual. On the occasions I have spaced out those settings while configuring from scratch it hasn't taken long to see the results in some of my less robust (read crap) devices. On my AX86U manually setting up...

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 388.1 is now available for all supported Wifi 6 models

Am I understanding correctly that those with WiFi disconnect/drop issues are: Using AIMesh Using 160 That would certainly explain my very different results (no issues).
